[RELEASE]ParadoxV1.0

Post by mandoman »

Paradox....well, it's kind of a weird ship. It kind of looks like something that got bent, and mangled out of shape, and then realigned itself symetrically. It is relatively small, though the mangled wings jutting out from the fuselage make it seem a lot bigger than it really is. The cabin section (and there isn't much else other than the power plant) looks like someone took an axe and cut straight into the middle. The engine exhausts are about the only part of the ship that look normal, but even they are at a difrferent alignment than most other ships. It serves as a hunter, or an escort. It's relatively quick, and fast, though not as much so as many others. To refer to this ship as "yar" would be telling a lie. It's a paradox.

I like :)
Looks a bit 'shadowy' (as in B5), and that paint-job on the last one is probably the best I've seen on any of your ships - very nice indeed.

With elements of Last Starfighter too.

Interesting design...

Most definitely! I tend to browse the forums via the "View unread posts option" and select the most recent post in a thread, which is useful when one has already read the previous posts in a thread before, and so I was scrolling upwards to the top. Which of course meant that the last one was the first one I saw. Let's just say that my eyebrows shot up and I did a double take! I like it a lot! 'Twould be cool if the swirls moved about as well - I might experiment with attempting to write (or hack) some shaders to either animate them, or procedurally generate something similar!

I would imagine it being a hard ship to hit, too, due to its thin body. Could be a really menacing beast...

Holy Cow, and I thought it was weird the way it is. I never even thought of the possibility of moving swirls on the ship. I probably couldn't pull it off, but it's a neat idea. :)

I'm glad you like it. I do, but I have strange tastes, LOL! Thargoid, I seem to remember hearing about "Star Fighter", but am not sure what it is. Do you have any links to it? Right now I'm working on the "Jade Shadow", from the Star Wars book series, post movies. I was reading one of the series, and got to wondering about the ship. Found some great pics of it on the Net. It'll be a challenge, but I like that. :D

My thoughts exactly.. on both counts..

Thumbs up, Mandoman! 8)
Most games have some sort of paddling-pool-and-water-wings beginning to ease you in: Oolite takes the rather more Darwinian approach of heaving you straight into the ocean, often with a brick or two in your pockets for luck. ~ Disembodied

Whoa, that is one huge, mean looking ship. Are those some kind of energy cannons so prominently sticking out around the sides? You aught to build that one. :)

Not so huge as all that.. it's a smallish two-man ship.. as you can tell by the dual cockpit canopies..

The movie The Last Starfighter came out in 1984.. you should see if you can rent it some time. It's not bad for its' time.

Looks like a Krait imagined as an X-Wing fighter. About the right size too.

Oh THAT "The Last Startfighter". I've seen that. Doesn't that ship spin super fast, while firing energy bolts, and therefore (supposedly) destroy a whole fleet with one fighter. That's a cool ship, no doubt. :)
