Beer Cooler

Post by Commander Tricky »

My beer cooler got damaged in a fight - teach me to deviate from my standard strategy of hanging back and then running away!

Such a horrendous insult couldn't be left unanswered, so I did get the miscreants in the end.

Took me an age to mop up all the Ringwood Best that had splattered my cockpit

Ha, that's the really great thing about the beer cooler - it takes the hits and preserves more useful and more expensive equipment which would otherwise get damaged. :)

Heh.. most of the time, my useful and expensive kit nobly sacrifices itself to save the beer cooler!
Most games have some sort of paddling-pool-and-water-wings beginning to ease you in: Oolite takes the rather more Darwinian approach of heaving you straight into the ocean, often with a brick or two in your pockets for luck. ~ Disembodied

Yeah... this has been my experience. The damn beer-cooler hasn't taken one hit yet!
I would advise stilts for the quagmires, and camels for the snowy hills
And any survivors, their debts I will certainly pay. There's always a way!

I don't understand this. The beer cooler is already the most useful equipment on my ship.

The Cooler is very useful for keeping my bottles of tonic water on ice too. I find gin doesn't stain the cockpit anywhere near as badly as beer does when an impolite Python pirate makes me spill my drink.

On a side note:
Could anyone be so nice and pick up a couple Kegs of Wyvern Special at Beesor and take them to Biramabi?

I just wanted to say that's quite a shame about your beer cooler :(.

since we are talking about the OXP, if I upgrade my ship, will the beer cooler go with me?

It didn't for me - I had to shell out a whole new 10 Cr to buy another one! I did remember to take all my beer out of my old one before I part-ex'ed the ship though ;)

That is some crap. I demand the maker of the oxp make the ship part transferable! It is ridiculous that you will need to work so hard to find and afford this piece of equipment only to have it taken away when you upgrade your ship!

Duuh! Can't you just hire tech to remove it, then install it on your new ship? Of course the work can cost you...

It is very specific to the ship and not easily uninstalled. If I recall correctly though, you can sell it if you have the equipment sale OXP.

The problem is the Beer Cooler needs to be plumbed in to the Phlogiston-flux super-coolant system, which then needs re-callibrating. If the Beer Cooler is just removed the subspace plasma thermo-regulator would go into an inversion phase and the ship would explode as soon as it entered hyperspace.

I knew it could be used as a real weapon, you just have to send it near the other ship on a missile. :P
