It's from [wiki]Transports[/wiki] OXP. The wiki page doesn't mention it, but that Anaconda Spaceways logo is found on a texture file in the OXP.Ranthe wrote:Spotted this Anaconda liner the other day... the funny thing is I have no idea what OXP or anything this is from, and I certainly don't recall seeing this before.

Nice shots, a_c..
Looking at that second pic, is there any chance I can interest you in the "Neon Cobby" colour scheme I came up with a few years back?

Most games have some sort of paddling-pool-and-water-wings beginning to ease you in: Oolite takes the rather more Darwinian approach of heaving you straight into the ocean, often with a brick or two in your pockets for luck. ~ Disembodied

Re: Screenshots
So, since I've been gone a while, I thought I'd have a look around the place and see what's newly available for aspiring oxp developers to play with. I came up with 3 things of interest: visual effects, frame callbacks, and shaders (okay, technically shaders were available before, I just wasn't capable of running them). So, deciding to jump in at the deep end, I've been tinkering about with Commander McLane's NPC-Shields oxp, attempting to use them all. The result can be seen above...
'Tis visually not very useful yet, and rather crude, but I believe the framework is there. All I've done is create a visual effect as a bubble scaled to the bounding box of the ship, with position and orientation updated via a frame callback. When the ship takes damage, the shader is told to draw bits of the shield, supposedly depending on the direction the damage is coming from. This doesn't yet look quite right, but once it is, then more interesting features should be fairly easy to add...

Re: Screenshots
Interesting stuff, Mauiby. Which version of Oolite are you running, btw?
I would advise stilts for the quagmires, and camels for the snowy hills

Re: Screenshots
It's the kind of thinking (in a slightly different direction) that led to the Cargo Spotter OXP as well, which works along similar lines.

Re: Screenshots
Very interesting stuff indeed!
By the way, you may also want to check out CommonSense's CustomShields OXP, which in some ways supersedes NPC-shields. (The default version creates too many hull plates for my taste, but it's customizable.)

Re: Screenshots
I think I finally found the style that I like. A great soup of different things, in comic book style.
Out of curiosity... I saw many OXP inspired by series, movies and sci-fi stories. But there's also some inspired by Moebius comics?
Some other nice things. A Cure fan of the future, and the RRS General Headquartes in an asteroid field full of star jellys
I always preferred Povray Planets, System Redux, DH Systems, over System Demux, because I wanted a "realistic" look. But I must admit that now I prefer the variety of colors of S.D. When combined with spara's stations for extra planets oxp and wildeblood's distant suns, it adds a lot of variety and possible combinations of clouds colours, sun colorus and planet colours, and fits perfectly with neolite and re2dux ships, and many other oxps.
