Reader Crowd
Has anyone seen this new site? I'm somewhat surprised to find Coyote listed there, along with several other Oofics.
I dislike the cover that's been given to Coyote, as it happens.

I would advise stilts for the quagmires, and camels for the snowy hills
And any survivors, their debts I will certainly pay. There's always a way!

Re: Reader Crowd
Haven't seen it either yet, and am also a little surprised.
I find it a little confusing. On the one hand it appears to be the homepage of the planned anthology for E:D. On the other hand, all featured content so far is existing stories that are not going to appear in the anthology. But that isn't made clear on the page.

Don't use the word "anthology" in this context - it might get confusing.
The project known as the Elite Anthology - Tales from the Frontier is housed here:
http://www.elite-anthology.co.uk/
Whereas the linked site is connected to another Elite fiction project, called Elite Chronicles. I've never really been able to figure out how it is supposed to work and I was also confused by the inclusion of existing Oolite/Elite fiction there...

News to me, too ... not sure about the portrait of the Captain on Calliope: then again, it's better than the cover I made myself!

Yeah... it is a little odd. I'll be commissioning a new cover for Coyote and changing it soon.Disembodied wrote:... not sure about the portrait of the Captain on Calliope...

Ah, my bad. Sorry. It shows how confused I am by those chronicles.Wolfwood wrote:Don't use the word "anthology" in this context - it might get confusing.

I've been reading through the plan - if they can put together a coherent tale that way, I'll be very surprised.Wolfwood wrote:I've never really been able to figure out how it is supposed to work...

Re: Reader Crowd
Yup, I wondered about that during the Kickstarter and I still wonder about that. This is one of the books that I never backed simply because I did not see much of a chance for it to produce anything readable. I hope they surprise us all, though, since I like reading good Elite fiction.Cody wrote:I've been reading through the plan - if they can put together a coherent tale that way, I'll be very surprised.Wolfwood wrote:I've never really been able to figure out how it is supposed to work...

And they Spelled. My bloody name. Wrong.
On the cover. It's right everywhere else.
Yeah, this site was put together by the person that initiated the Elite Chronicles kickstarter. She asked me a wile back for permission to use a short story on it. I said it was fine, as long as it was fully attributed (since all the stuff on my site is under a CC attribution license).
Not a great site, though, I have to say. Needs a LOT more work.

At least you were asked. I wasn't, and although it's beyond my control (creative commons etc), it would have been nice.Selezen wrote:She asked me a wile back for permission to use a short story on it.

Re: Reader Crowd
She didn't ask? Hmm, that's not very impressive. I kind of assumed that because I was asked, everyone would have been.
You should get in touch and berate. I can't say I'm impressed about the misspelling of my name on the cover image. I mean it's not like "Hughes" is an unusual name or anything.
I think both things show a worrying lack of attention to detail.

I have had a little grumble about it... no reply, as yet. I've changed the cover pic and blurb on Coyote though.Selezen wrote:You should get in touch and berate.

Yeah, I too have sent an email to them. Registered now, and will try to repair the damage done to my poor name.

Way too late for that.Selezen wrote:will try to repair the damage done to my poor name.
On a serious note, I was asked, but my stories seem to have been used rather erratically. I'll register too...
Cheers,
Drew.

Ha ha... Me too. Nine has a wacky new cover and it's been written by a Drew Wagner apparently...
Registered, logged in and can't really do anything... What next, oh fellow authors?
Cheers,
