Please Help with Deposed Mission

Post by davcefai »

I am revisiting Galaxy 4 and started the Deposed Mission. This clashed with Trident Down so I temporarily removed the OXP.

I have completed Trident Down but Deposed seems to be stalled. At Dicebe I was told to contact Galcop if Drile contacted me but since then nothing has happened.

I have the following in my save file:

Code: Select all

	<key>mission_depask</key>
	<string>PELDOR</string>
	<key>mission_depbien</key>
	<string>BUGGERED</string>
	<key>mission_deposed</key>
	<string>PART2</string>
	<key>mission_deposed_started</key>
	<string>YES</string>
	<key>mission_depstat</key>
	<string>CLEAN</string>
I don't think that mission_depask is part of Deposed - there is no Peldor in G4. The "BUGGERED" for mission_depbien seems suspicious. Has the mission been killed?

Help appreciated. I know that the OXP works, I've played it before.

You're supposed to go to Esarqure and meet your contact, a certain Zskthak, at the main station. Esarqure should also be marked on your galactic chart. And don't eat the snails.

Thanks! Esarqure was not marked on the map and I must have missed the message - OXP Clash?

Hi Ho, Hi Ho, to Esarqure we go...

Well, I got to Esarqure and nothing happened. The mission varaibles I pasted earlier were unchanged..

Ah, sorry, I didn't read the script carefully enough.

It seems you have (probably accidentally) circumvented a choice you should have made earlier, for instance by launching instead of choosing one of the options. So you've indeed got stalled.

Probably for the continuity of the story it's best to play from the part that you last remember, namely your encounter with the police at Dicebe.

Please set

Code: Select all

	<key>mission_depask</key>
	<string>ZSKTHAK</string>
	<key>mission_depbien</key>
	<string>BUGGERED</string>
	<key>mission_deposed</key>
	<string>PART1_6A</string>
	<key>mission_deposed_started</key>
	<string>YES</string>
	<key>mission_depstat</key>
	<string>CLEAN</string>
and you return to after that meeting. From there it'll take a couple of jumps and dockings until the next thing happens.

Thanks for this. As it happens I had already decided to zap the relevant strings and start again. I hadn't really got very far, just dropped the fugitive off if I remember correctly.

Lesson learned: don't let 2 missions run concurrently.

It can be quite fun doing multiple things at once. Try doing contracts and passengers as well

My favourite is to get a Random Hit in the direction that I'm going in on top of all that to really make the trip worth my while.

They certainly can't complain about a lack of in-flight-entertainment.

Generally I first get the Random Hit, then build up a series of cargo and passenger contracts in that direction. It's best to start at a short edge of the Galaxy. I can do up to 3 passengers and 5 cargo contracts but with missions this is the first time (in years of play) that I have tried to have two going. The problem seems to be that one can invest a lot of time in a mission and then have it go bad on you.

Well, I do get them to sign a 'If you throw up or make some kind of unspeakable mess, you clean up the cabin' clause. But with those things being air and water tight I don't worry too much about contamination

It is always a good idea when doing missions is to have two or three saved games of the last mission objectives you have done just in case of any issues you may encounter or miss something that was essential to its progression.

OK, I too am getting a little stuck on deposed. Firstly, at exactly the same part as the OP, with the same items in my save game. I corrected them as suggested, and we moved on... (I have no other mission OXPs on the go as I also got stuck when playing Trident Down, so I finished that first).

Anyway, I'm working with the cops, and have met my contact, so we're off to find some pirates on some planet or other... nothing happens.

Having nosed through the script a bit, I *think* I was supposed to be met at a 'bar' in the station, and given some advice as to where the pirates have gone - however I have never received that message, and to the best of my knowledge, I haven't launched too quickly at any point to miss it...

Now I can't work out how to kick it off again! I can post the variables if it helps - I didn't know how much of a spoiler that might be...

OK, an update (which I may have missed the first time) - I'm getting the message about meeting someone in a seedy bar - however it shows up under the F7 planet info screen - and it does this on ALL planets that I F7. Is this correct? I assumed it would pop up as a mission screen on arrival! It doesn't give any info on what to do next, although if I'm meant to randomly visit all the planets within 7ly, then I can give that a try - I haven't had the chance yet!

Do you have the "Save Anywhere" OXP installed? If so you will need to remove it. What I think happens is that when you a teleported to the station to save, Deposed tries to kick in but is blocked.

The way I sorted out my problem was to remove Save Anywhere, delete all Deposed related items in my save file and restart the mission. Can't help any more than this as a lot of lightyears have passed by my hull since then.
