Installer for 1.65 beta-3 posted

Post by dajt »

Hi,

I have posted a new installer to Oolite-PC for 1.65 beta-3.

This is the same beta-3 code as on MacOS-X and Linux, and does not include any of the fixes Giles has checked in since. I thought we should keep the betas the same to highlight any platform related issues.
Regards,
David Taylor.

Now I can at last finish my oxp - the possibility of having ships for sale in Behemoths is finally on PCs!

Hmm...now THAT opens up a possibility.

Would a Thargoid Carrier sell a Thargoid Warship?

Depends if they needed the money!

EDIT: Would be nice though wouldn't it, although you'd have to make it so that the police and navy always attacked you because they thought you were the baddie!......until ship to ship comms comes out, then you'll be able to say...."Hey, hey, wait a minute....I'm here to see Lando Calrissian."

if: playership equals Thargoid
Do: player_entity scanclass equals thargoid?

Otherwise add 100Cr to bounty every time player exits hyperspace and set legalstatus to publicenemy#1.

edit:
Have installed this new version...installed a few mods...my own mostly.
Now I have some strange texture-swapping problems with old savegames, prly due to (still) missing mods.
Most noticably the hyper and docking sequence look strange. :(
Has anyone else noticed problems with the pimped-ships.oxp? If so plz notify me, so that I may fix this.

I also noticed ships stuck in the launchtube, as I was launching/docking, usually a viper.
Scary!

edit (10/7): No display of ship in commanderview, nor when offered the contrictor quest. shipyard works fine. What is up there?

Am I correct in understanding that the PC version doesn't yet have external views?

Cheers,

Drew.

It does, but only on some ships.

It is, indeed. My Cobra includes some viewing angles not in the original samples posted by... cannot remember who. Basically, a couple of views from the front of the ship.

Feel free to copy the coordinates to any other ship you like. Anything from Cobra Courier should fit with any other Cobra out there, and prolly most other ships of similar size...

!! Installed Oolite on laptop.
Again found strange texture swapping on stations and dockingrings.
So this is consistent buggy behaviour on two PC's.

Ships nearby donate textures, so that a station can be covered in viper-texture or a docking sequence shows a series of ATT1, python, viper, etc textures!

I just took the latest version on Oosat2.
I'll have to verify the v.# and whether a clean install still has this phenomenon.
As this might be due to some fault in one of the OXP's I installed too.
(X-ships, ATT, wrex-cargo, mpak2, some more)

I recall similar problems in some of my experiments with Oolite and Vega strike many years ago. Back then it was because the graphics card didn't have enough memory for the textures and was reusing old ones when new ones failed to load.

What are the specs of the graphics card - and do you have the latest drivers for it?

The laptop has a very limited grafixcard, don't know which type exactly.

(did see some strange fx such as black stripes on sun when mousepointer over it and flickering arc-SUs on the station)

However I saw the same texture swapping on my own PC which has a ATI X500XP Graficscard. The drivers are fairly up to date.

The problem may be due to other texture loading problems:
I got a report that my wrex-cargo-oxp was failing to load a texture and causing crashes for someone.
On both systems this OXP is loaded for testing purposes.
(and because it is my baby offcourse. ;) )

edit: ps also the strange un-dead ships are there again. Jut remembered a moray-med I shot for fun, which was hanging around the station.
I think it happens after they eject.
