The dock on my high poly coriolis is quite a bit taller than the default coriolis dock and you can indeed dock most ships at any angle at them! I wasn't checking things properly when I was building the coriolis model and only found out i'd got the dock height wrong once i'd UV unwrapped and started texturing the model, going back to fix it without ending up with horrible stretched textures just didn't seem worth the bother

Okay... but does the DC know this?
I would advise stilts for the quagmires, and camels for the snowy hills
And any survivors, their debts I will certainly pay. There's always a way!

The DC is not looking at size. It only compares the x and y dimension of the dock and of himself. Based on that, it should choose an alignment.

Hello. I just noticed that mandoman posted this in January in the 1.77 for OXPers thread:

Okay, I just had a first. I was flying my Diamond cargo ship, and like I always do with it and others as big, I handed docking with the Oresque Station to the docking computer. After swinging me all over the place, while taking a steady pace toward the docking slit, the computer was about to take my ship into the station, when it suddenly flipped the ship on end, and crashed it. After I pressed Space, I found myself floating in space, just outside of the station, with no HUD, and no controls. The sounds were all working well, though.

Exactly what I got. Very occasionally in previous versions there'd be some scratching but nothing like this. For the moment I've given up with the DC (on the Intel chip machines). Rich.

Fast dock will work even if slow dock crashes the ship.
