Beyond the Constrictor mission.
Well this old out of retirement Commander aint so rusty after all. Currently in Galaxy 3 after sorting that elusive Constrictor. So what next for this Dangerous Commander? Are there more missions? Popped off a few Thargoid robot ships here & there but no sign of any Thargoids. Seem to remember in Elite getting into Thargoid Space for some fights.
If nothing more challenging than upping my kill score to make Deadly, should I go instead for a Mission OXP like Ionics?

As it happens, now that you've done the Constrictor Mission, there are still 3 more 'native' missions to look forward to.. one of them right in G3, in fact..
(For Ionics, you'd need to work your way back around to G2)

Most games have some sort of paddling-pool-and-water-wings beginning to ease you in: Oolite takes the rather more Darwinian approach of heaving you straight into the ocean, often with a brick or two in your pockets for luck. ~ Disembodied

The best way to increase your kill count is to do all the mission oxps for each galaxy. There are quite a few. A secondary objective would be to save enough CRs to upgrade to a bigger and better ship.

As long as there are still native missions to be had, I will keep roaming around G3 for a while upping my kill tally & collecting cargo from fugitivesDiziet Sma wrote:As it happens, now that you've done the Constrictor Mission, there are still 3 more 'native' missions to look forward to.. one of them right in G3, in fact..

How do I get back to G2 though if I want to do the Ionics?

You'll have to jump through Galaxies 4,5,6,7,8, and 1 againCommander Uzi wrote:How do I get back to G2 though if I want to do the Ionics?
This will speed things up a lot.

There's a better ship than the Cobra Mk III? Hmm... a matter of opinion, I suppose!metatheurgist wrote:A secondary objective would be to save enough CRs to upgrade to a bigger and better ship.
Don't rush round the Eight just to do OXP missions - the experience gained during the first circuit (and the native missions) will stand you in good stead later.
I would advise stilts for the quagmires, and camels for the snowy hills
And any survivors, their debts I will certainly pay. There's always a way!

Careful there, it's bad luck to mention the... bugs during flight. The crew can get a bit nervous about the things that lurk out there in witchspace. Unwise to attract the attention of anything nasty, if you see what I mean.Commander Uzi wrote:Seem to remember in Elite getting into Thargoid Space for some fights.
Now, that's all just superstition, I'm sure. But these Quirium drives are a little sensitive sometimes, and you wouldn't want to do anything to disrupt the wormhole prematurely. Remember what the flight instructor back on Lave Station told you about witchspace jumps? Fly straight and true, and you'll have a perfect trip straight through the hyperspace tunnel every time. Never goes wrong. Almost never. Your ship came with a full service history, right?

Definitely opinion, but I quite like my Supercobra. Still haven't done the first circuit and I'm sitting pretty at Deadly so I'm doing OK. Sadly, I had to get back to RL so the commander is stuck in G5.Cody wrote:There's a better ship than the Cobra Mk III? Hmm... a matter of opinion, I suppose!

I added the Cobra3 XT & what a mean SOB it is. Not quite got enough credits yet (WAY cheaper than the Super Cobra @ 300,000) but had to uninstall it as it kicked my ass almost every time I came across it. I will add it again once I have enough to trade in AND kit it out with Military lasers etc.
