Yep!!
I would advise stilts for the quagmires, and camels for the snowy hills
And any survivors, their debts I will certainly pay. There's always a way!

I definitely vote for "Yes". If a pirate decides to launch a missile at me from 50 metres away, I prefer being able to think "That's inconvenient, my shields are now in the red" rather than "Oh well, I didn't really like my ship anyway. Or breathing air."

(And once you've got more money than you need to buy a hold full of cargo, buying upgrades is about the only thing you can do with the surplus cash anyway)

A definite yes. Plus, it's worth remembering that any upgrades you fit to your ship increase the value of your ship as well. True, they also increase the maintenance costs, but like rayner says, you've got to spend the money on something!

Yeah.. like repairing all that expensive kit on a regular basis. Of course, that only applies if one has a penchant for going in harm's way.

True: if you spend your time puttering around in the aegis of a Corporate State, then military shields might be a bit of a luxury item ... :D

Oddly enough, in my line of business, the aegis of a Corporate State is a high-risk location!

Where can you get military shields?
Got enough money for one more beer, I'll carry on regardless!

[EliteWiki] This page is useful, as is the Oolite Reference Sheet pdf, found in the main Oolite folder.

But I bet you don't do much puttering when you're there ...

Man, you should see me dock at a Torus station with GalCop Vipers on my case, and station control screaming at me!

The wages of sin is death; that, or having to clean up after the craboids. Which might be worse, depending on what they've been eating.

But I'm only going about my business, whilst saving poor traders beset by brigands and occasionally helping hard-pressed Vipers - nothing sinful in that.
Besides, it's not the cleaning-up after the whatever-oids that bothers me - it's that damn attitude adjustment!

Never mind, it doesn't seem to have much effect! :D
