Your backstory
One of the things I find makes Oolite so great is that it doesn't feel like I'm a guy sitting at home playing a computer game. It feels like I'm the commander of a spacefaring vessel trying to make a living. The ability to draw you in and immerse you in another world is a rare quality in games. Sometimes when the action dies down and it's just me looking out at the vastness of the Ooniverse and all those suns I have yet to visit, I wonder why I ventured out into the Ooniverse in a humble yet trusty vessel with barely enough credits to buy a hot meal or a cold beer.
Has anyone here, especially the Elite veterans, pondered this and created a unique backstory?
If so have you chosen a playstyle or profession that reflects your backstory?

Re: Your backstory
Yeah... Disembodied's back-story is probably the most entertaining.
I would advise stilts for the quagmires, and camels for the snowy hills

Re: Your backstory
I do have one in mind, but I haven't written or published it yet.
My avatar is a big clue to the kind of thing I am going for and my other online pseudonym will join it all together.
Unfortunately I'm currently writing another piece that is going to be for my son.

Re: Your backstory
Yup, I'm somewhat of a split personality now, since I have my own backstory as per the wiki page and expanded upon in the the stories Lazarus and Snake Charming, but then Drew writes a parallel universe version of me which I really like in the final two parts of his Oolite epic...

Also DaddyHoggy used to make an appearance in his modified Magma Racing Mamba in the Diso system in the Personalities OXP.

Re: Your backstory
Some say you don't choose space; it chooses you. All I know is it was this, or the bottle.
There was a woman. And a dream.
And now I have neither. But somewhere, somewhere out there, I might find at least one of them again.

Re: Your backstory
This discussion is inspiring me to do more to my own backstory, which at this point basically only consists of the most basic data about my commanders past, like where he and his family is from. His father had left (somewhat traitorously) Ededleen for Inines to 'find a better life' in more prosperous, communist system. Now my commander is clearing the family name by working for the House of Ededleen.

Re: Your backstory
Reading my own (see sig) it is a bit sparse on biographiocal detail but I like to keep an air of mystery about myself.
My friend Jack's is far more interesting, so go read that one instead.
