Players base of operation?

Post by Rogue7414 »

I have a question, would it be possible for a player to have their own station and save their progress? In that regards I don't mean orbiting around the systems planet like the main station but more like say a rock hermits station or seedy space bar out in the depths of space and away from the main space lanes, so for example if a person wanted to start a life of crime and start murdering and pillaging the locals then they would have a base to return to instead of running the gauntlet to get to the station so as to save their progress.

Along those lines would it then be possible for you to have commodities, such as fuel and weapons, items that could be sold and bought. Weapons, Slaves and Narcotics would be dirt cheap whilst things like food, luxuries and booze would be expensive.

Also, could it be made that only fugitives and offenders could access these places, that the base would have a small defense force that may or may not stand and fight or run and bail? Or maybe protected by orbital defenses?

Also maybe a bounty hunters base of operation as well, again owned by the player?

Sorry if this has been suggested previously, I have looked through several pages and so far not seen anything like this but then again there's 40+ pages so I may have missed it and the reason why it can't be done.

Cheers.

Ha, yes it certainly has been discussed before!
Briefly, the main practical problem is that you can only save at a Main Station. The main 'in-game' issue is that you'd be stuck in that one system which would get pretty boring pretty quickly.
