Oolite - A new lease of life with new laptop

Post by milinks »

Having been playing Oolite for the last couple of years on my old laptop, which had an internal graphics card with emulated OpenGL. I made a passing comment to my wife that it was becoming a bit old "(the laptop, not the wife). My loving wife then bought me a new laptop with a 128mb extreme graphics card, and Buckets of RAM, and ive discovered two things.

a) Oolite is fantastic, for the first time i can see clouds of space dust/ particles etc, the speed and texturing are amazing. This game never ceases to amaze me, and the sound.......well!!! :)

b) My wife is the bestest wife ever ever, not only does she put up with me playing this game, but she actually gets me a better toy to do it with :) :) :)

Isn't it nice to have that kind of relationship? ;)

Mind you, my cynicism circuits would tend to kick in at this point...

And as a true geek, you didn’t even consider reading that, right?

Well as you know, instructions are so important, and what better way to keep them safe for reference than to pack them away, as soon as you get them right?

Hmph. In comparison My wife doesn't let me use my laptop, then breaks it, then blames me for buying a crap laptop.

Congrats on your new laptop and a wonderful wife! :)

Personally, I'd never let my wife choose a laptop for me (I'm too picky in a geeky kind of way), but I applaud that there are such wives around!

@Selezen: Buy your wife a laptop of her own, or give her the money to go out and buy one herself (or if she's got the money, just give her the OK). I bought a lappie for my wife and now she is happily oblivous to the amount of time that I spend at mine... :)
