Ship Wishlist!!! :-D

Re: Ship Wishlist!!! :-D
I really don't know how much of that is possible. If I were you, I would start a new thread on the subject. The experts are sure to jump in, especially if it's not possible, LOL!! I DO know that the ship can only move in one direction, and that's forward. I don't think it's possible to do otherwise with Oolite at this point. Who knows for the future. I'll start breaking up the ship into sections, separating them where the different sections rotate. The panels on the side of the globe are a no brainer, and I don't think the others will be hard either. First, though, I'm going to finish the ship as a whole, so I know what it should look like when together in the game. Good luck with the scripting.

The WIP Odyssey:
Also gonna add in the tridents as well. They are a tad easier to model.
All this discussion about movable parts makes me wonder whether it will be possible to make the iris on the odyssey open and close depending on speed and whether hyperspace is initiated.
Can of worms well and truly opened.

Thanks mandoman! I'll start a new topic as you suggested!mandoman wrote:I really don't know how much of that is possible. If I were you, I would start a new thread on the subject. I also made some more screenshots of the comet, but still have to load them up somewhere. I'll report back when it's done!
(I had some problems with my internet connection in general and with reaching the BB in particular, thus the late reply )

mandoman, I've good news! Everything is possible!! You "just" have to make all parts moveable by creating them as subentities, and perhaps provide me with the positions of the exhaust tubes if you know how to get them (since you are a ship builder, I think you are much better at this than I am), so I can script the ship to move into different directions.
And I also uploaded more images of the comet, which I hope show to which degree the fins and so on are moveable, and also provide some more detail:

This is rather entertaining.. it's like watching a kid help design his next Xmas present..
Most games have some sort of paddling-pool-and-water-wings beginning to ease you in: Oolite takes the rather more Darwinian approach of heaving you straight into the ocean, often with a brick or two in your pockets for luck. ~ Disembodied

Same here. I can still break it into subentities so the parts can be manipulated however much possible.Tricky wrote:Hmm... I get the message, "NO COPYRIGHT. Whud?!? Darn.... When I checked, it still worked. But I think the site is broken somehow. It also didn't work to upload all images as a .zip-file, so I had to upload them one by one (over 70!). And all because I didn't want to create yet another account somewhere... I chose bayimg because I liked their description, but I guess it can't be helped. Any suggestions for a good, free image publishing service, anyone?mandoman wrote:Same here.Tricky wrote:Hmm... I get the message, "NO COPYRIGHT. Very good news indeed!!mandoman wrote:I can still break it into subentities so the parts can be manipulated however much possible.

Whoops... I don't know why, but for some reason the images are tagged as "offensive". To view them, you have to go to the settings and turn the filter off: http://bayimg.com/settingsTricky wrote:Hmm... I get the message, "NO COPYRIGHT. NO LICENSE.", on that link.
But still, it doesn't show me all the pictures I uploaded, but only 50 (max) if I set "Display 50 images per page".
Other things (like clicking on "Tags", for example) also don't work. The site is definitely not working as it should.

Try Photobucket - many of us use it.
I would advise stilts for the quagmires, and camels for the snowy hills
And any survivors, their debts I will certainly pay. There's always a way!

Re: Ship Wishlist!!! :-D
Thanks El Viejo and mandoman for your recommendations. They helped me alot, although not as I expected:
While trying to find out what the differences / pros and cons of Photobucket and Image Shack are, I stumbled upon two other image sharing sites, which both have the great advantage (in my eyes) that I don't have to register!
The upload of my images was on both sides equally comfortable - just drag and drop. I'll have to use them more in order to determine a favourite! Feedback is also welcome, of course !

I'm closing in on finishing the Comet. Still have the rear sensor flap to mount, but it will be a subentity, as well as each of the bulb sections, the front sensor flaps, and what ever else someone might see that might be manipulated as a subentity. Pic,
