Elite: Dangerous - Design Decision Forum

Post by JazHaz »

Can we have a list of who (from the Oolite Community) pledged enough to become a Design Decision Forum member?

I am for a start. I intend to offer the Community a say in our decisions.

Maybe you could start a Kickstarter Campaign to found your £4500 pledge. 8)
Thanks to Gimi, I got an eBook in my inbox tonight (31st May 2014 - Release of Elite Reclamation)!

I wish I were, but the cost was simply too steep with the exchange rate and all. I'm happy I reached Founder status. :)

I'm presuming Drew will be, because his 4.5K included "all the benefits above"

I am indeed. Given that folks helped me get there I shall do my best to act as a conduit!

Cheers,

Gratulations to everything you have already achieved, Drew! :D

I "only" pledged 80£ - they deducted me 115€ for that already ...

Well, I'm going to be shameless and suggest something already for your potential conduit-ing! I would love alien empries being out there, unknown at the beginning of the game, and potentially really far out, so that one would have to explore a lot to find them. But if they were found, they might be new sources to trade with, make contracts with, buy information from, sources of special equipment, technology or even ships not available anywhere else, they might be dangerous and go to war or force others to go to war with them, or super-enigmatic super-powerful and not interact at all except if ... well, easter egg!

Cheers

It does beg the question, though, about how much Oolite-related stuff will be suggested to FD by us and how much of it will get in.

We might have to be careful though, in case FD get a little concerned that we try and make ED into Oolite: Dangerous. Or try and stage a coup.

Hmm... There are more of us than there are of them...

I wouldn't worry to much about that. The DDF will consist of more that 500 people. The Oolite representatives are a very small minority. One of the the advantages they will have, is that they have seen how a few different concepts and equipment types work in game, and can then come with more informed arguments and opinions. The problem is more likely to be reverse. How can we get our view across based on "having tried that in Oolite".

When I was young (many, many years ago) my father had me convinced for a while that there was an animal that you might pronounce Dangeroos. We had just seen the kangaroos at whipsnade zoo, and another enclosure had a sign up saying "These animals are dangerous".

There use to be a (rather mediocre) joke about former German Chancellor Helmut Kohl and his limited intellectual abilities, where he goes to a Zoo in an English speaking country, and eventually introduces each and every animal to his wife as a "Dangeroo". She doesn't object in front of the first cage which happens to show kangaroos, but begins to wonder when increasingly differently looking animals are introduced as "Dangeroos" as well. Finally, Kohl reveals that there was a sign at the entrance, saying "All animals are dangerous."

Yeah, I told you before that it was a mediocre joke. :P

That joke would have to climb up a fair way to reach 'mediocre'.. :P

I think that it would be a good idea to start a specific thread where we can make suggestions and discuss ideas for submission in the Design Decision Forum.

I'd say this very thread is ideal for that... it's easily re-titled, if necessary. I don't think we need a third E: D thread.
