Is there anywhere I can get english-subtitled copies of the episodes? Is there a DVD?
http://www.orionspace.de/ww/de/pub/english/history.htm mentions unofficial video cassettes with English subtitles sometimes available on ebay. Other than that, I'm afraid, there is no English version. (I may be wrong with that.)
EDIT1: The 2003 movie (which is basically a recut of the whole series into 90 minutes) seems to be available with English subtitles, though: http://www.amazon.co.uk/TV-SERIE-Raumpa ... 300&sr=1-2. But of course, a lot of the original material will be missing.
From B5 I quite like the idea of Starfuries as fighter escorts for larger ships. Very small, very maneuverable and a PITA for anyone after a nice relaxing spot of piracy.
I'd be careful flying an Orion replica, as it could get mistaken for a Thargoid vessel. It might also get into trouble in systems inhabited with Frogs.
LOL, okay, I'll run with it. Like I said, though, someone else may want to do the texturing. For me, I would paint it as close to what I see in the pics, but it may not be satisfactory to others.
Yay!!!THANK YOU mandoman!!!*hugs mandoman*
And don't worry, so great as this community is, I'm sure someone will volunteer to do the textures!
I'm so happy now!!

忍 knowing that enough is enough, you'll always have enough.
The only downside of having B5 StarFuries is the old Oolite scale thing - they would probably be half the size of our escape capsules!
Down side? I think that's awesome. In other words, they are one man fighters, possibly part of a whole fighter group aboard a Behemoth, or System Station, or if they are pirates, I could see them swarming out of a Rock Hermit Pirate Cove.
I have seen the first episode just today and my Orion is almost ready... The more the merrier, I guess.
Getting two instead of one is even more exciting.
One thing I have no idea about is which size to use for the model. The dimensions for the original are given as 150m in diameter and 32m high. However, as we all know, there is no easy translation of Earth meters into Oolite "meters". Of course, sticking to the numbers would allow the Orion to fit into a docking bay easily, which is nice. On the other hand, I'm not sure whether I imagine the ship to fit into a docking bay. Actually, I rather envision it as a capital ship. It has shuttles on board, after all. Again, on the other hand, it is capable of landing on the ground. I'm torn.
I found two measures about 70m and the 150m, including a quote from one of the trick people of the series, saying something along the line of "Scale didn't matter, the look of it was more important!".
I made it 110m for a smaller craft (remember: the oolite ships are not small at all) able to launch and dock at stations. Still have to add a flasher. I texturized it to look like this model: from here
And I have the theme song in my head all the time while doing this...
Considering the pace this Orion Projekt is cracking along at, perhaps we should begin discussing in-game specifications?
(And whether Oolite can handle 3 lasers "light-throwers" spaced at 120° intervals)
Most games have some sort of paddling-pool-and-water-wings beginning to ease you in: Oolite takes the rather more Darwinian approach of heaving you straight into the ocean, often with a brick or two in your pockets for luck. ~ Disembodied

I ignored the light-throwers, they just look fancy. By the way I have one ponting backwards, as the ship in the series is flying in a non consistent matter, but as far as I could tell not with one to the front. And as I typed this, I just thought: Could a ship rotate while flying?
My specs in shipdata.plist:
If somebody could give me a hint how much a ship with this specs should cost (250000? More? Less?), I'll upload the "Schwere Raumkreuzer Orion-Klasse"...
Oh, and I'm considering making a big version, too, that would not take too much time.
unfortunately I can't use external views because I'm using that mean [wiki]Sniper Camera System[/wiki] But I made the modifications to the shipdata.plist anyway, so I'll at least to check it out! Thanks!
There is a workaround.. Wildeblood's "HUD Vanisher". With it installed, your external views are usable again. It's been withdrawn, pending updating, but I'll PM you a link.
Diziet Sma, thanks for the link - but it doesn't work. The [wiki]Sniper Camera System HUD[/wiki] replaces the external views, so when I press v, instead of giving an external view of my ship, I get the zoomed view from the sniper camera - but without the target reticles! Well, it was worth a try. Common Sense told me he's already working on a new and better version of his Sniper Camera, so I'll wait

Don't know how much this should cost but... Cool!

Ahh.. my mistake.. the Sniper Camera can permanently disable your external views, if not removed correctly (I keep meaning to sort it out, but forgetting) and I found the HUD Vanisher restored the views, minus the HUD displays, of course. The Vanisher only came along after I'd stopped using the Sniper Camera, so I didn't realise it wouldn't work for your case.
