Since this is my first post I'd like to thank the authors for putting this thing together.
I've been playing a little while now and have got to Competant. I'd like to try some OXPs but have failed to get them to do anything.
The first one I tried was tori.oxp. I've been travelling round the galaxy a bit and haven't seen one yet. Can somebody tell me where I might see one to verify that the oxp is working.
Now according to the instructions on the site, if there's a top level directory, I should go into it and find the tori.oxp directory and move that to the addons directory. That's what I did. The website also says that the oxp directory should only have other directories in it, no files. This isn't the case, there are ._config, ._.Models, ._Textures, and .DS_store files in the tori.oxp directory. Should I delete them? I've tried downloading other oxps and it seems that there are always extra files which, according to the oosat2 website shouldn't be there.
What am I doing wrong?
Cheers,
Phill

I think those extra files have something to do with Mac OS. Just ignore them.
Try installing some OXP that contains a new ship model. You can then see if it is working by just looking through the opening screen where the ships rotate on the screen one after the other. The new ship should appear as well and show you that the OXP is properly installed.
The Tori stations are rare and you'll have to find a system with a high tech level to see them - and not even all of them have one.

As far as I can tell, as another PC user, those additional files are created by whatever Mac software archives the directories.
Assuming that your Oolite installation is in $OOLITE, you need to put the whatever.oxp directory in $OOLITE\AddOns. Oolite will automatically scan this folder for added packs.
As far as the tori stations go, be aware that you can only expect to see them on very high tech level systems: I think the minimum is 12 (possibly even 13). They won't show up just anywhere. There's also a random factor, too, as to whether or not these systems have upgraded to a torusat.
Rumour tells of a torusat in orbit around Xexedi, in Galaxy 1. I don't know if there's any truth to that...

Make sure the directory is called AddOns (not addons). I believe Oolite is case sensitive.Cmdr Monte wrote:Now according to the instructions on the site, if there's a top level directory, I should go into it and find the tori.oxp directory and move that to the addons directory. That's what I did.
It is generally inadvisable to eject over the target you just bombed.

There is one at Onrira. It's only a few light years from Lave. Tech level 13.Cmdr Monte wrote:
