I had a funny feeling that one or more professional writers and/or publishing houses might be behind the sudden increase in the total number of writer's packs available.. looks like I wasn't far wrong.
Most games have some sort of paddling-pool-and-water-wings beginning to ease you in: Oolite takes the rather more Darwinian approach of heaving you straight into the ocean, often with a brick or two in your pockets for luck. ~ Disembodied

As mentioned in the article, Rob Holdstock was one of their authors. It would have been really nice if he'd been able to write another story, some 30 years after The Dark Wheel. Sadly not to be :(

Personally I think the spirit of Robert Holdstock is alive and well and in the capable hands of Drew Wagar.

And remember Rob wrote TDW as a job (and was paid 17.5p per copy of Elite sold) to fund his other books (Ryhope Wood series) - Drew is doing this for love - the fact that he happens to be a stonkingly good writer too is a bonus.

I had a brief chat with him at the Elite Gathering in 2009 and he said that he would love to write a follow up, not least because the royalties on TDW paid for the deposit on a house he was buying (or something similar) 8)

Can't argue with that!
