That was a good read, even if I'm not really font of eblnygl*.

The qrnqyl zbhagnva tbngf had me cracked up - especially since I had just started thinking "hmm, I should check that planet's in-game description" right before they came up.

A tad bit less "family friendly" than Drew's Oolite saga.

*Using rot13 to prevent spoiling the story for those who haven't read it.

I enjoyed it very much from the begining to the end with a story in the true spirit of the Ooniverse.

Really great reading!
Looking for a sequel now  or at least some news of how the war is going on (no spoiler intented)
Thanks a lot Maaarcooose.
Glad you enjoyed it.

I was considering a sequel, but I also had in mind a prequel, concentrating on Velisas early years and how she met Jansen. There's a whole story to be explored there.

I did wonder how well that aspect would go down.
Also I've always thought about what those planet descriptions mean. Some are than as a bit of a joke, but there's plenty of story in them.

As for the not family friendly aspect, I nearly cut out all the swearing but other parts of the story line were very adult so thought I'd leave it as such.

I have a more family friendly story in mind for another piece.
And I also have some even grityer ideas in mind for another.

Oh the possibilities.

Ah yes, you are right, a prequel would be much better for now than a sequel.

You have my OK to start it
(joking, of course - take your time if you ever plan to write it)

I agree that prequel sounds more interesting than a sequel, because it has more potential for flying around through the Ooniverse and adventuring.

After "Mostly Deadly", Velisas and Jansen could whfg yvir unccvyl rire nsgre naq fvg ba gurve guebar juvyr ratntvat va cbyvgvpny vagevthr - but there are of course dramatic ways to get around/over that.

You are right, that would likely get boring quickly (after all, we already experienced that for at least a millenium and still are, in a certain way... )

I think the prequel just has more room for a great story.
Although, I was thinking that there could be a complete fall from grace in a sequel.

Anyway, currently my head is into the idea of a family friendly story next, mainly as I want to be able to read it to my young son.

I have a working title too.

The Crimson Koala
A tale from the case files of
Max Solstice, Space P.I.

It's funny, the more I write, the more I want to do something from every genre possible.
After detective story I'm gonna do a horror one. Scary + Sci-Fi = Awesome!!!

Just re-read through it on my phone.

Damn there's a lot of typos and mistakes.

I shall fix them and add a decent cover too.

Finished this last night... Bravo. Thanks for the acknowledgement too.

Great story with some nice twists. Loved the qrnqyl zbhagnva tbngf bit - class. :D

Typos seemed to get more prevalent towards the end, but since I was reading on a Kindle I couldn't note them down.

Cheers,

Drew.

Thanks Drew, glad it was well received.
The qrnqyl zbhagnva tbngf bit was definitely one of my favourite bits. Yet another one of those things I've always looked at and thought that it had a real, planet-side thing associated with it, not just a jokey description. There's a story in everyone of those descriptions and they're all there for the taking.

I think the next one is going to be released in bite sized chunks.

And I will certainly get through all the typos at some point.

I'm surprised that no-one has already... summon a wiki wizard!

How about an account so you can maintain your entry yourself? Alternatively, what would you like to see where?

An account would be great thanks. :D

Then I can add some stuff on OOliteInfo too and update the map pages.
I was thinking about expanding the page about how all the planet info is derived too.
