A few days ago I've talked with Micha about a configuration helper for the keyconfig.plist. The goal was a simple tool to create custom configurations with a rough visual support. Keyconfig is the result, a quick and dirty little helper running in the browser. It uses HTML+JS, but currently no File API stuff, so it has no fileaccess and relies on c&p. This may change someday. The onscreen keyboard is a modified script from http://www.greywyvern.com/code/javascript/keyboard which is BSD licensed.
The contributions from El Viejo, Eric Walch, Gimi, Micha and PhantorGorth have improved the handling and helped to sort the difficulties. It should run on newer versions of Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer, Opera, Safari and SeaMonkey. Gimis Oolite Key Maps was another source of inspiration. Thanks a lot for your support.
There have been quite a few questions concerning the keyboard layout in Oolite lately, and how to change it.
So I'm going to bump this thread about this excellent little tool by Svengali.

As Svengali's neat little utility helped me resolve a rather embarrassing problem just now, I'm bumping this thread by way of saying thanks..
Most games have some sort of paddling-pool-and-water-wings beginning to ease you in: Oolite takes the rather more Darwinian approach of heaving you straight into the ocean, often with a brick or two in your pockets for luck. ~ Disembodied
Changes:
- Templates for v1.77, v1.80 and v1.82, two alternatives, BBC and empty
- Splitted handling based on compatibility profile (v1.77, v1.80, v1.82)
- New keys 310-319 (Numpad)
I have only checked Mozilla and IE (not the oldest versions though).
The call of the Dark Side got a little too strong, did it?

Changes:
- Keyboards for German and French
- Fixes, cleanup, etc.
From what's been posted elsewhere, a keyboard layout for Italian keyboards would be nice, too..
