NPC messages sent upon destruction

Post by Shipbuilder »

I am in the process of putting my latest OXP together with the intention of including a large variety of messages that will be sent by NPC ships upon their destruction.

I intend to provide a different choice of messages for vessels with hunter, pirate, escort and police roles.

Therefore I would be interested in any suggestions of messages for any of the above roles which I will then incorporate in to the OXP prior to its release.

Increase the variety of ships within your Ooniverse by downloading my OXPs

"That will buff out!"
Most games have some sort of paddling-pool-and-water-wings beginning to ease you in: Oolite takes the rather more Darwinian approach of heaving you straight into the ocean, often with a brick or two in your pockets for luck. ~ Disembodied

Pirates' death shout-outs should be mostly nasty/insulting and defiant... and quite possibly X-rated!
I would advise stilts for the quagmires, and camels for the snowy hills

"Noooo!"
"I'll see you in Hell!"
"You son of a bzzzztz!"
"I'm coming, Elizabeth!"
"Tell my children that I love them ..."
"I will have my revenge!"
"The universe shall hear from me again!"
"Ow!"
"Who will watch over my hatchlings now?"
"My ghost will stalk you down the halls of time ..."
"My dying curse be on your head!"
"Hang on, I think—"
"Can't we talk about this?"
"May [random deity] curse you!"
"Spirits of my ancestors, receive me!"
"I will be avenged!"
"So it goes."
"Alas!"
"Oh woe!"
"Jings!"
"May the blood of my heart rot your soul!"
"Can you smell something burning?"

One small problem with death shout-outs: if the shouter goes speeding away in an escape pod, some shout-outs seem odd.
I'd have liked escape pod shout-outs in the GG, as it happens!

"Is that all you got?"

Police
"Viper 2736, signing off."
"Mummy!"
"Knew I should have stayed in bed this morning."
"Could this day get any worse?"
"Knew I shouldn't have had a beer at lunch time."

"You're on your own boys."
"See you in another life brother."
"Well this sucks."
"I'm hiiiiit.."
"Where's the ejection handle."

Hunter
"You were a most worthy opponent."
"No matter, we shall meet again in another life."
"This is not possible."

"By Randomius Factoria!"

"Onwards to Tionisla!"

"Should have invested in that escape capsule..."

"This was the last time I bought second-handed shield boosters."

"Now that's a strange wormhole..."

"Pressing space again!"

Good point, but a ship can remember the launched escape capsule and on destruction let the pods send the messages. (That means you need ship and pod messages. :) )

I think this will have to be a fairly rare occurrence – maybe 2% of the time? If a message is broadcast every time a player kills an NPC, then even with a lot of messages, they're going to repeat pretty quickly.

"The wish of my heart upon you, villain!"
"Oh, if only I'd listened to my poor dear mother!"
"At least I'm wearing clean underwear ..."
"Back to the bardo ..."
"I'll keep a place in Hell for you!"
"Sacred forefathers, make room!"
"Today is a good day to die."
"My kin will avenge me!"
"Poo-tee-weet?"
"Be sure your sins will find you out!"
"Why? Why?"
"[random deity], I come!"
