Imminent release of Mostly Deadly
I can hardly believe it myself but I finally managed to finish it.
All I have to do is have a couple of proof reads, write the epilogue and thanks list and soon you will have a new 53,000 word, 20 chapter piece of OOfic to enjoy.
It's been a long time, about a year and a half in the making, but it will be released soon.
After release and when you've all had a chance to read and digest it, I hope to do a radio show in the style of Gravity Waves to help give a little sonic texture to the story and the main character.
Thanks to all who helped me on this.
Marc

Excellent idea! I too had a soundtrack in mind for the currently-stalled wip, but I abandoned the idea eventually.maaarcooose wrote:... I hope to do a radio show in the style of Gravity Waves to help give a little sonic texture to the story and the main character.
I would advise stilts for the quagmires, and camels for the snowy hills
And any survivors, their debts I will certainly pay. There's always a way!

Re: Imminent release of Mostly Deadly
Despite the callings of RL, I have finally finished my last proof read and to be honest I just want it out there.
I will be releasing this as soon as humanly possible, hopefully this week.
If anyone fancies making me a cover for it I would be eternally grateful.
Just trying to find some good epub software now.
The stupid thing is, I already have 2 more that I have started.

It doesn't stop, even when you release one (and I know that feeling of 'just want it out there')... the next character is waiting!maaarcooose wrote:The stupid thing is, I already have 2 more that I have started.

Any thoughts on what you'd like, or should I just read it first?maaarcooose wrote:If anyone fancies making me a cover for it I would be eternally grateful.
Most games have some sort of paddling-pool-and-water-wings beginning to ease you in: Oolite takes the rather more Darwinian approach of heaving you straight into the ocean, often with a brick or two in your pockets for luck. ~ Disembodied

I think just go for it cold. I'll put anything good in the file.Diziet Sma wrote:Any thoughts on what you'd like, or should I just read it first?maaarcooose wrote:If anyone fancies making me a cover for it I would be eternally grateful.
Main possible things for the cover are:
The Elite rating.
Red haired woman in expensive clothes covered in blood (See first chapter post).
An exploding Copperhead ship.
A Cobra MK3, white paintwork, with black lines on each edge and sword decals on the 'wings'.

I can recommend writer2epub, an extension for OpenOffice, for generating good clean ePub files with ready-made contents lists, metadata etc.maaarcooose wrote:Just trying to find some good epub software now.

Re: Imminent release of Mostly Deadly
Thanks for the recomemdation of Calibre.
That's exactly the kind of program I was looking for.
I tried a couple of others and they were a bit crap at formatting the text.
Calibre just left it as is.
I would use the OpenOffice one but I'm afraid I'm using word 2011 on my Mac.
Yes, yes. I know I should be more open source like but it works and I love the full screen mode editor.
I shall get the main text released and then put a cover on later.
I've been trying to pursuade my wife to pose with a gun for the cover, but she's not keen.
Anyway....
