Europa Report

Post by Cody »

This looks very intriguing - nothing but a short trailer, and a website, but...
I would advise stilts for the quagmires, and camels for the snowy hills
And any survivors, their debts I will certainly pay. There's always a way!

A mission to Europa would be extremely awesome  . Maybe we can find out what causes the brown tint on the surface ;)

Edit: There are 12 trackers on that site  . (I've been using ghostery to block trackers the past 2 weeks or so now, and it tells you how many trackers there are on a webpage).

Do Not Track Plus (which I find better than Ghostery, at least under Windows) agrees:

Google Plus, Twitter, AddThis, Outbrain, Quantcast, AddThis (again), SiteMeter, Tynt Tracer, Google AdSense, Google Analytics, Quantcast (again) and Comscore Beacon.

All nicely blocked...

I've not heard of Do Not Track Plus... I'll have to check that one out. Does Ghostery not work well in Windoze? It seems to do the job in Mint, as far as I can tell :D.

Do not track...

Is that the module that you get with Grisoft's AVG? Or am I mistaking it for something I get with a plugin for Firefox.

It's an alternative program which does the same job, but does a wider job and is a bit more selective. At least to the experience I've had with it. Ghostery works (I started off with it) but DNT+ works better.

Don't know about Grisoft AVG (I run Kaspersky on this machine) but it may well be, as it's a free thing.

Thank you for that. Ghostery has been annoying me for a while. This seems less obtrusive but still more informative.

You're welcome.

If it's of interest there's an article comparing the two here, although DNT+ is blocking 13 scripts/sites on that page  Indeed that is a point not lost on some of the comments logged on it by other readers.

I think there's also a table of comparison between the two and a couple of others on the download site for DNT+, but of course that may be more biased.

And DNT is doing 14 now. Something's variable on their side.

If you want to bypass the unspecific number of trackers, the video is on Youtube. Of course, that’s still tracking you. :-)
