Small tip. When you're just out of the jump turn to the left or right of the planet and 'j' skip along for a few seconds. Then line the planet up again. You will now be travelling the less well trod space lanes so will have a less 'interrupted' journey. Once you're combat skills and iron ar*e are in place return to have some fun with the offenders.

Nah... stick to the spacelanes and fight your way in (or find and follow a trader convoy for some protection). You'd be surprised at how well you can do in a Jameson's Cobra III, and your piloting skills will develop all the faster. Yes, you may get killed a few times, but hey...
