And a wonderful job you are both doing may one humbly say - ably supported by the rest of the crew of course especially from Submersible on the planets.
Having been playing lately with some of the wonderful new stuff coming in 1.77 (and filling Cim's inbox with various requests and bug reports) all I can say is there is some wonderful stuff to come and potential for a damn sight more...

Re: David Braben's Elite: Dangerous - Kickstarter!
Seeing as EVERY Elite/Frontier game has included some form of fiction, I don't see that being outside the realms of possibility.drew wrote:Now, if Mr. Braben would like to commission a Novella, that's something else.
Express an interest. Send him a copy of the Feynman Trilogy with a business card for a bookmark and a stamped, addressed envelope for his return letter (if that last isn't too cheeky).

Thus it is proven that if there is a problem, hurling money at it should be contemplated as a possible course of action.JazHaz wrote:As I have pledged £500, I will be on the design forum.
Excellent Mr J, excellent.
Ok so lets narrow this down. Who else
A) Has PC access. (Mac probably won't be supported)
B) Can spend a bit of time on the forums and doesn't mind reporting back.
C) Isn't fundamentally important to the running of oolite

Isn't anybody worried about this part:

I saw that as a positive. That way you can avoid the usual obnoxious [forbidden planet name]-holes that plague so many MMOs.Corbeau wrote:Isn't anybody worried about this part:David Braben wrote:Multiplayer: you will be able to control who else you might encounter in your game – perhaps limit it to just your friends?

Seconded. It's that exact thing that stopped me from buying/playing MMOs even when I had the time.Smivs wrote:I saw that as a positive. If Linux ends up being supported, I am really looking forward to making new friends with this. When it's up, perhaps we should post contact details for E:D in a thread on Outworld.
Got all turned around, lost my nav connection... Where am I now?
Re: David Braben's Elite: Dangerous - Kickstarter!
Actually, I would love for there to be a station or planet in E:D named Oolite where we could meet up in the game on a regular basis. I'd be willing to contribute to such a thing.Rese249er wrote:If Linux ends up being supported, I am really looking forward to making new friends with this. One wonders if there may be a Raxxla out there... somewhere!David Braben wrote:Only this time some of the ships out there will be other players like yourself – other members of a secret ‘Elite’ group of space-farers…

Good question, but E:D being multi-player it won't remain hidden and mythical for long if it's in there. As a minimum DB would need to make the trip there something out of the ordinary if Raxxla is to retain it's reputation for any amount of time.El Viejo wrote:One wonders if there may be a Raxxla out there... somewhere!David Braben wrote:Only this time some of the ships out there will be other players like yourself – other members of a secret ‘Elite’ group of space-farers…

That'd be awesome!Gimi wrote:...station or planet in E:D named Oolite where we could meet up in the game on a regular basis.
Perhaps we can reverse-engineer the multiplayer aspect for Oolite as well!
