Some space games.

Post by Agis Silverfish »

Some space games I found interesting.

This one isn't out yet, but it looks good. More of a shooter than anything, but good nonetheless.

Oo, that last one's by Chris roberts the wing commander guy, i wonder if this is a sign that space combat games are going to make a comback?
By the time i got my first PC the wing commander series was just about coming to an end, so the only one i've played is Wing Commander Prophecy, what a cool game that was.

Yep, I was looking at that earlier - the full Star Citizen presentation is here.
I would advise stilts for the quagmires, and camels for the snowy hills
And any survivors, their debts I will certainly pay. There's always a way!

Heh, i wish! have you seen the promo video that's out? wow at all the detail on the spaceships  I'd never be able to come up with anything as cool as that, they say there's 2 million polygons in the flight deck model alone! Imagine sorting out the UV texture map for that, would take be about a year at least

Yeah, I've seen the promo for it. Very 8)

The only things I've done is an asteroid station (with an irregular docking bay, i.e. no straight sides) and a communications buoy (looks like a simplified Voyager 1/2). Not exactly ground breaking as yours, never mind Star Citizen.

I couldn't view the videos of the first three, since I'm on Linux and unity player is for Win/Mac :(. Anyway, this game will be familiar to most I'd think, as it is a re-release (first released in '99). I recently got it for $5 desura - so far my opinion is: it's fun, neat graphics and effects, but not nearly as cool as Oolite. I really like open 'sandbox' games where the player decides what mission he'll undertake and when. (I think games like that respect the player's intelligence, too, as they don't hold the player's hand to tell them what to do next).

That one looks really neat. That's one thing I miss in Oolite are real stars from the Milky Way. The one drawback is that this game is for Windows only :(. Good looking though, Agis :D.

You could also have looked here. Or here, for that matter. (And probably in some other places scattered over the boards; I only searched for "ad astra" in the topic title.)

This is an old one, but me and a good friend of mine had hours of fun with it back in the 80's.

Oi! How did you get my latest hud design?!
Take an idea from one person and twist or modify it in a different way as a return suggestion so another person can see a part of it that can apply to the oxp they are working on.
