Rese's Paintshop
Not sure where else I'd put this. You want a custom paintjob for your ship but are lacking the means to create it? Just post your request here, along with the actual textures if it's not a core ship.

Re: Rese's Paintshop
Alright, I'll bite. The description comes from a scene in my still-ongoing Oofic:
Ship: Cobra Mk1
Name: Bernadette
Description: "Its original paintjob had probably been blue-grey, but it was so covered in dents and burn-marks and been retouched by so many different repair shops with various degrees of skill and fidelity of colour matching that it looked as if it were painted in camouflage for a planet with a very unusual ecosystem. An emblem of an upraised hand holding a rose was stenciled on the dorsal hull."

Re: Rese's Paintshop
I'm guessing that's the vanilla Cob1?
EDIT: Would you be able to post a more evenly lit version of your emblem? A scanned version would be ideal, but barring that, try laying the paper down on a table. That way I can be sure I'm not royally mucking up cutting the white and everything else away from the emblem.

Yes, it's a standard Cobbie. And I'll see what I can do, but that emblem isn't my own design and that's the clearest photograph of it that I could find.Rese249er wrote:I'm guessing that's the vanilla Cob1?

Hmmm. Try this one.

Mow THAT is very well-lit. Thanks. Same color for the emblem, or ya want it recolored?

No preference. Just make it look sort of graffiti-ed on, like it was done with a homemade stencil and some spraypaint; it's an in-universe equivalent to V's Guy Fawkes mask or a Che Guevara picture, though in this case the character to whom this ship belongs has greater moral right to use it.

How's this? Any tweaks you might want?

Oh, that looks marvelous! Wasn't sure about the yellow bits at first, but thinking about it they could be primer or something, so that's just fine. Nice job.

Re: Rese's Paintshop
I used the cobra1_redux1.png texture that's in the main Textures folder as a base, then covered up the cobra emblem, laid down the blue and grey layer, then placed the emblem over that.
Wasn't sure if that'd work out, but it seems it has! Glad to have helped!

Umm.. hate to be a nit-picker, but I always figured that on a spaceship, "dorsal" referred to the upper side, not the belly..Rese249er wrote:How's this? Any tweaks you might want?

Most games have some sort of paddling-pool-and-water-wings beginning to ease you in: Oolite takes the rather more Darwinian approach of heaving you straight into the ocean, often with a brick or two in your pockets for luck. ~ Disembodied
