I took the above picture, because that DS pirate made me laugh with what he said about my "exciting ship".
<chuckles> What OXP are you using for that? Looks like fun :-)

Conclusion:

The Anaconda is a fine ship capable of doing it all as a (mega) trader, and then some.
It has massive cargo capacity, so running passenger / cargo / specialty contracts, can bring in piles of credits.
It can hold it's own, and push through pirate packs to system stations.
The poor top speed, acceleration, and massive target size are definitely a deterrent to making it as your main fighter style craft (but it was never designed as such).
Funnily enough, I've found that the Anaconda's sluggish manoeuvrability actually helps with long-range targeting because you're less likely to overshoot the target - especially if you're flying by keyboard. I've just flown unescorted into an Anarchy system in Galaxy 2 to get jumped en route from the beacon by at least two small groups of raiders... who rapidly found themselves to be on the receiving end of my forward military lasers and got splashed in short order.

The Anaconda in a fighting role seems to be less "fighter" and more "battleship" :-)

Or being an independent trader escort ;-)

I concur. In my 249th OXP, I have a tweaked Anaconda filling such a role, supported by modded Cobra 3's.
Got all turned around, lost my nav connection... Where am I now?

That's [wiki]DeepSpacePirates[/wiki] for the dialogue (and the deep-space pirates), and [wiki]Randomshipnames OXP[/wiki] for the ship names.

I heartily recommend this OXP - it's the best OXP of the year, immersion-wise!
I would advise stilts for the quagmires, and camels for the snowy hills
And any survivors, their debts I will certainly pay. There's always a way!

Take an idea from one person and twist or modify it in a different way as a return suggestion so another person can see a part of it that can apply to the oxp they are working on.

Just installed that one. Now I can listen to my shields being pummelled in full surround-sound, followed by the satisfying explosion fireworks when some miscreant meets a sticky end :-)

It's a beaut! Definitely adds to the immersion factor.

Thanks. What I like the most is when you see hull panels flying off your own ship while in the forward view letting you know you're in some serious trouble. I consider that oxp to be my most difficult achievement yet and very 'Outside-the-Box'.

There are many others on my hard drive.
