Thank You
I would like to thank everyone involved in any way with Oolite. I have finally found a game to absorb me and make the days go faster while healing. I never had never heard of the game, until exploring the Ubuntu software centre to find some entertainment. I am addicted - yes, I know I have a problem and now need help, and you blokes are all responsible. Thanks for the wiki and all the answers, as well as all the oxp's to add different features.
I started with Cobra, have now flown Boa Clipper, Venom, Falcon-s, and now King Cobra. Favorite so far would be the Falcon-S at its fast, has an iron ass, packs plenty of fire power, and can carry a good lot of cargo so I can keep up with its expenses.
Next trip to town I have to buy a joystick, so I can whip those pirates - fingers are not quick enough on the keyboard anymore.
Once again, thanks and kudos etc, and if I meet you in a bar somewhere in the Ooverse, let me buy you a drink - a pan galactic gargle blaster comes to mind, but I think that was from another time and universe

Re: The Oolite chatroom
Welcome ozhank to friendliest board this side of Riedquat! It's nice to see people discover the game and go "oh wow!". We may need to start a RL organisation called Oolite Anonymous
This thread is for the Oolite IRC chat channel so please don't feel aggrieved as I am going to get your post moved to a new thread. More people will see it there anyway.
Do feel free to join us in IRC: irc://irc.oftc.net/oolite for chat and help. BTW we serve garglebasters in the bar there.

Re: Thank You
Hi ozhank, and welcome.
Glad you're enjoying the game, and hope you are feeling better.
Just one thought, If you found us via the Ubuntu software center have you got the latest version of the game? I think the repos only have v1.75.3, whereas the latest stable release is v1.76.1. If you need to upgrade, go to the Oolite.org website.

Re: Thank You
Welcome to the bb Ozhank. Glad to hear that you enjoy the game. It should come with a health warning however due to its addictive nature

Re: Thank You
Thank you for your welcomes.
Yes I do have the latest version, as the one I downloaded randomly stopped working - no glitches to report now except with a couple of conflicting oxp's.
I do agree that it should come with an addictive health warning. But is sure is good food for the soul and good for escaping. Also have read the Oolite saga, and downloading some more stories over the next few days.

Re: Thank You
Welcome to a forum that has been graced by much friendly banter and very few flame wars; it is remarkably civilized and great fun. It's very encouraging to see the regular arrival of new blood to the game and the forum! The game's addictiveness is beyond question, you only have to look at the list of oxps put together by numerous contributors to realise its ability to galvanise the mind and imagination. I'm sure you will enjoy the stories created on the back of the game almost as much!
Very funny, Scotty, now beam down my clothes...

Re: Thank You
Having a great time, now in Galaxy 2 with my Falcon-S. Just discovered a Blake 7 Liberator exists, but quite old. I might have to brush off some programming skills and bring it uptodate if no one else has.
Would also love to get my flying fingers on a Caduceus - any tips?

Re: Thank You
I've flown a Caduceus quite a few times, and I can testify that it is a beauty of a ship. However, you really have to look to find one. Take some passenger contracts, and check all the high tech level planets along the way to your destination. Don't give up, the Caddy is worth it.ozhank wrote:Would also love to get my flying fingers on a Caduceus - any tips?
