Re: Windows Trunk version 1.77.0.5057 experiencing CTD!
Re-downloaded and installed trunk nightly v5287 (same as): in ten launches with a virgin Jameson, it crashed three times. No particular circumstance - once immediately after launching from Lave station, once soon after a jump, and once after a fairly long flight. All in fullscreen mode - no OXPs. Again, zilch in the logs!
I usually only look at trunk a few times a month, but rarely, if ever, get a CTD. However, I am running the Deployment Trial Build on the other partition - is there any chance that is involved? I doubt it, but thought I should mention it.

I would advise stilts for the quagmires, and camels for the snowy hills

Different versions of Oolite in other partitions (or just in other directories) won't affect each other, even if they share the same save game directory.
Hopefully a dev team member or two will find out a way to reliably CTD with trunk, so we can start figuring out what exactly is causing these problems.
Thanks for the testing, as always!

Still getting the CTDs in trunk, but I managed a brief look at v1.77.0.5317 this morning - has anything changed with targetting? Normally, I target a ship and its blip starts flashing, then I move the sight off and re-arm the missile, and the flashing stops. In the above version, the blip continues to flash, even when I have nothing targetted.
I like the rainbow spacedust - how long has that been around? Or have I just not noticed it before (surely not)?

Is this a new feature, or some OXP? I have never seen a ship blip flashing (except of course for the two-colour blips of Thargoids, Q-bombs and attacking police).El Viejo wrote:Normally, I target a ship and its blip starts flashing

Good thinking, McLane... it's Thargoid's Target Autolock Plus that adds the flashing blips (I've got too used to it being in the AddOns folder, obviously).Commander McLane wrote:... or some OXP?
However, it seems to behave differently in trunk (I'm sure Thargoid will see this post at some time).

So it isn't something wrong with my setup. And I'm sure I haven't seen it myself in 1.76.1, just in the trunk.El Viejo wrote:I like the rainbow spacedust - how long has that been around? Or have I just not noticed it before (surely not)?

Indeed, and I'll look into it.El Viejo wrote:(I'm sure Thargoid will see this post at some time).

Please try it without OXPs, and if it’s still there, a screenshot would be welcome.

I get the flashing blips too, however I don't have Target Autolock installed. I've wondered when this behaviour started, perhaps a new feature in 1.76.x?El Viejo wrote:Good thinking, McLane... it's Thargoid's Target Autolock Plus that adds the flashing blips (I've got too used to it being in the AddOns folder, obviously).Commander McLane wrote:... or some OXP?

All the new features in 1.76.x are listed in the Changelog (also included in the game distribution). This is not one of them. Please try without OXPs and if the issue persists, let us know exactly what one has to do to reproduce it.JazHaz wrote:I get the flashing blips too, however I don't have Target Autolock installed. It took five attempts to get trunk to run long enough so I could clear the aegis at Lave and torus (although the coloured dust is visible at normal speed).Ahruman wrote:Please try it without OXPs, and if it’s still there, a screenshot would be welcome.
This is a virgin Jameson with v1.77.0.5325 straight out of the box:

The coloured dust has been around for at least a fortnight. I assumed it was deliberate.

Also, please specify which blips are flashing.JazHaz wrote:I get the flashing blips too, however I don't have Target Autolock installed. I've wondered when this behaviour started, perhaps a new feature in 1.76.x?
Thargoid blips, hostile police ship blips, and q-mine blips are supposed to flash in vanilla Oolite (without OXPs), and have been doing so forever. Only if a blip of something that is not a Thargoid, not a hostile police ship, and not a q-mine flashes, that would be out of the ordinary.

Rainbow stardust confirmed also here. Running on Windows with Intel HD full shaders. Switching shaders off seems to get rid of the problem. Also, it looks like facing the sun (even with full shaders) makes the problem go away most of the times. I note that when the bug happens during torus, the lines are drawn visibly thicker than what they normally should be.
Definitely something is funny here.

So not linked to the dust shader bug that afflicts some gfx cards (mine included)?
I'm more concerned as to why trunk keeps crashing on me - does no-one else get this problem?
