Uff, to create a new OXP is a lot of work to learn.
(Translate an existing OXP is one thing, make a new one is something completely different )
Is there an OXP-Programmer who can write a little Interface ?
Very simple, just write the alert condition to a file.
Or more flexible, just call an external script like "RedAlert.py" in the program folder (if existent) ?

It'd dearly love to get involved, but... alas, no time left. I myself am investing the little free time I have to try to get some old SCSI hardware to talk to other slightly less ancient hardware
I think this s a BIG opportunity though, so I really, really really ***REALLY*** hope someone comes up with a 'toolkit' to make stuff like this possible.
We have a good working WIKI to post documentation, before we know it, we could have a whole new level of tinkering, everybody building cockpits!

Now I wanna put a screen in a console for scanner and ship readouts so the main screen's only got crosshairs and weapons indicators. Maybe use ChupacabraHUD's ASC setup...
Got all turned around, lost my nav connection... Where am I now?

Does anybody know what this looked like? Imageshack have nobbled the link and are seemingly unsearchable.SwissMäc wrote: ↑Tue Aug 21, 2012 7:05 pm
I hope the link keeps working.
Every time you have to press a button, the keyboard remembers you and destroy the imagination of space flight, but no more ! Ha ha.
This is "Flying Prototype One".
All you need is Wood/Aluminum, a few Buttons and an Arduino.
Show me yours...

Careful with that tongue of yours, young whippersnapper!

what? WHAT!
Yes, I found my way back to this. Work and leisure hasn't been the same these last few years, so I needed something meditative to do, and relearning this has been nice so far. There has been some great advancements, but the basics are still fun. It's like rediscovering the joy of making those little boats that go into little bottles, except everyone else has moved on to drones.
You are in good health I hope?

Wow, that's nice!
I don't think I'll ever get very deep into Oolite (or desktop/laptop gaming) anymore. Too much other stuff do get me distracted....
But I sometimes lurk and it fills me with joy this place still attracts new talent (and old, and old!!)
Life's pretty okay, given the circumstances, can't work from home so for me the whole covid thing has happened without any lockdowns. Walking to work with a card in your pocket that says you can walk around felt very wrong though...
Eerie empty cityscapes will forever be in my mind though... Crazy fsked up times....

Well it's very nice to see you lurk.
Getting by as well as one can is positive. "Interesting times" were always bound to have some unsavoury elements, at the very least, but if one stays clear of misery, I suppose thats being fortunate.
Must dash, I'm about to hop on my bike and ride to work through Beaufort 9 gales but should be ok. What can you do?

I would advise stilts for the quagmires, and camels for the snowy hills
And any survivors, their debts I will certainly pay. There's always a way!

I instinctively think of wine, but I'm second guessing this is a uniquely British snooker rhyme.

It sets a mood, but not quite like the lord of the genre.
