Homemade Space-Flightsimulator Oolite Cockpit Panel
I hope the link keeps working.
Every time you have to press a button, the keyboard remembers you and destroy the imagination of space flight, but no more ! Ha ha.
This is "Flying Prototype One".
All you need is Wood/Aluminum, a few Buttons and an Arduino.

Most cool panel!
The only thing we now need is something which prevents gravity from destroying the illusion of being in space.
Edit: BTW, I think you intended to say that the keyboard reminds you, rather than remembers you.

Re: Homemade Space-Flightsimulator Oolite Cockpit Panel
To me it sounds a tad awkward, to be honest. "Super" doesn't mean anything specific in this context. Note that the words only appear in parenthesis. "Super Jump" (which is the literal translation) would not be understandable on its own. It only works because "Galactic Hyperdrive" tells you beforehand what kind of jump this is about.Selezen wrote:Hyperdrive = Sprung

Surely it should be “Intergalaxenübersprungmaschine aktivieren” (for short)?Commander McLane wrote:To me it sounds a tad awkward, to be honest. "Super" doesn't mean anything specific in this context. WANT. Wouldn't it be interesting if you could get Arduino to react to certain things like missile launch, condition level, or other things? Maybe even have an assignable panel for OXP equipment! Or... *goes off into the Ooniverse in his head.*
Got all turned around, lost my nav connection... Where am I now?

I can only guess (or googletranslate) what that would be in Swedish: "Slå På Intergalaktiska Omhoppamaskin"?Ahruman wrote:Surely it should be “Intergalaxenübersprungmaschine aktivieren” (for short)?

Very cool.
Take an idea from one person and twist or modify it in a different way as a return suggestion so another person can see a part of it that can apply to the oxp they are working on.

Re: Homemade Space-Flightsimulator Oolite Cockpit Panel
Thank you all ! *bow*
But a big, big red light on top of the screen is cool:
Is there any possibility to readout the Alert Status (A File, a Socket or any Interface (OXP who opens the serial port) ) ?
You mean a real Autopilot ? Some simple action are easy, just place a red foil over a photodiode and place it over the red light on the screen, "if red" start some crazy flight maneuver to avoid laser hits. But it kills the fun.Rese249er wrote:WANT. Wouldn't it be interesting if you could get Arduino to react to certain things like missile launch, condition level, or other things?

Re: Homemade Space-Flightsimulator Oolite Cockpit Panel
I was imagining more along the lines of "Status went from Yellow to Red; trigger blinking red lights all along the panel and some loudish klaxons."

Re: Homemade Space-Flightsimulator Oolite Cockpit Panel
I can think of three ways to do this:SwissMäc wrote:Is there any possibility to readout the Alert Status (A File, a Socket or any Interface (OXP who opens the serial port) ) ?
- Modify the game. It’s open source, after all.
- Write an OXP that writes status updates to the log. You’d basically want things like
log("SERIAL_OUT", "status: " + newCondition)
in your script, then pipetail -F Latest.log | grep SERIAL_OUT
into a tool that talks to the Arduino. - Hijack the debug console interface. This would involve implementing the [wiki]Oolite debug console TCP protocol[/wiki] in a tool or on the Arduino, and writing a replacement oolite-debug-console.js script to send the messages you want. (This script completely determines what messages are sent to the debug console and how to respond to input from the console.)

I so want one of those panels! I'm even prepared to try and say 'Intergalaxenübersprungmaschine aktivieren'
