Does Anyone Else Think of This Show?

Post by CommRLock78 »

Does flying around looking for bounties remind anyone of the anime, Cowboy Bebop ? The anime takes place in just our own solar system, but the characters' trade is bounty hunting. It is a highly entertaining show, if you haven't seen it already.

Bounty-hunters? I bagged a brace of them earlier - good sport, they are!
I would advise stilts for the quagmires, and camels for the snowy hills
And any survivors, their debts I will certainly pay. There's always a way!

I never heard of Dangermouse - but I saw old re-runs of Mighty Mouse as a kid  . It looks like Dangermouse was syndicated here in the US, but I never did see it. I think us yanks must be more in to the Japanese anime than our European counterparts ;).

&$£%^* anime. £!&$% load of £!$^&*. And you Americans make it worse.

"How," you may ask, "is this objective, Selezen?"

I provide an answer in one image.

The prosecution rests.

Danger Mouse, now THAT was a work of art. Still good today. CommRLock, get your hands on DVDs if you can and watch it. You WILL feel exhausted afterwards.

Dangermouse was a great show. One of the prime examples to me of a theme song properly fitting the tone of the show.

I guess it's only a matter of time before some studio exec decides to make an abortion of a film out of it like they did with Inspector Gadget. Hopefully whoever has the rights to that IP holds on to it.

Dangermouse was a good, fun cartoon, but beyond the fact that they're both animated, it's not comparable to Cowboy Bebop. It's a bit like comparing Wall-E to Daffy Duck. I'm a fan of all of them, but they're all very different things.

At first, playing Oolite reminded me of Asimov's Foundation trilogy. Then, I recalled Firefly. But since when I watched Firefly, it reminded me Cowboy Bebop... Yes, oolite, indirectly, reminds me of Cowboy Bebop. :D

I’ve never really been able to get into anime, the one major exception being Planetes. The main story arc is quite weak, but it is by a wide margin the hardest SF I’ve ever seen off a printed page.

So not very much like Oolite, then. (TV Tropes suggests this is closer.)

Planetes is one of the best sf anime I've ever watched. :)
I watched the whole series, three or four times

Hey now, I thought this was the friendliest board this side Riedquat
Clearly Danger Mouse is a show I should check out ;).

Firefly is cool - I've seen that a couple of times; and yeah, Bebop is definitely more of an in-direct recollection. I mostly just think of the Jazz and collateral damage as I'm off to hit a bounty :).

I've honestly not heard of Planetes, but it looks excellent

Bebop is mostly just fun - with a dash moral/spiritual wisdom that is so common in all Japanese storytelling (not just anime).

I _WAS_ being friendly.

If I wrote how I really felt about anime, then the server this forum is hosted on would have melted to slag and burned a hole straight to the Earth's core.

I remember watching Dangermouse in Nickelodeon along with Count Ducklua in the 80's. Or it could have been the USA network, I was pretty young then.
