Text appears as blocks with Intel GMA 3650?

Post by Slopey »

Hi All,

off on holiday shortly and thought Oolite on a new Samsung N100 netbook would alleviate the monotony, but when I install it from scratch with no oxp's, all the text within Oolite just appears as coloured blocks. Any ideas?

Ships, and the radar etc I can see fine, but all the text is just solid blocks. Anyone have any clues?

Netbook is a Samsung NP-NC110, with 2Gb Ram, Win 7 Starter, and Intel GMA 3600 gfx.

Cheers,
S.

Normally the first thing to check in such circumstances is graphics drivers - make sure they are up to date.

Oh and greetings, welcome, salutations and hello.

Hi Slopey, and welcome.
I can't help with your problem I'm afraid, but I hope your holiday won't be too boring either way.
As an Oolite obsessive, I actually sort of go on holiday to get away from it!

Hi All,

Thanks, yup - latest graphics drivers, but no dice.

If I uninstall the driver and let Windows just use a standard VGA one, it works, but with terrible performance. :(

Anyone else managed to get it working on a GMA 3600 series card?

Cheers,
S.

When I remember well, similar issues can sometimes fixed by disabling the splashscreen with the [wiki]Hidden_Settings_in_Oolite[/wiki]

I remember Ahruman posting up a replacement font .png file for someone to try who had this issue and it fixed it, but i can't dig up the relevant post, does this ring a bell for anyone else? possibly something to do with the alpha in the font .png file or something

I don’t remember that, but now that you mention it, I found it on my server: http://jens.ayton.se/oolite/files/font- ... e-font.png.

Try dropping that in your AddOns folder.

Well, that's got to be worth 'Necromancing' hasn't it?
