It's full of stars!

Post by Jure »

Greetings, Commanders!

Stumbled upon Elite Plus the other day, one thing (link) led to another and I discovered Oolite... oh my... I've been playing the original Elite on the C-64 and Amiga all those years ago and when I first ran Oolite and launched from Lave station... wow! It sure brought back some fond memories... A few days and more than a few OXPs later, I am awed, truly amazed at what I am seeing zooming through the Ooniverse.

Even after all these years, controlling my trusty old (new!) Cobby seems easy, it is as if my fingers still remember what to do, all on their own. Docking computers? Who needs 'em!? Pirates? Ha, dispatched two dozens or so to the blue yonder... been from one corner of the Galaxy to the other, transporting a few shady characters... had my first mis-jump smack into the middle of a curiously stationary Thargoid fleet... tried my hand at escorting a few nervous Boa Captains to their destinations - they are a jumpy bunch! - landed on my first planet... often, I would launch from some station and thrust around the system, simply enjoying the view...

Need to go... a fat contract awaits... but before I go, a big "Thank you!" to Giles Williams and to all developers of Oolite! Thank you for the Ooniverse. Feels like I never left... :)

Hi Jure, and welcome to the friendliest board this side of Riedquat.
What can I say? - It's good, isn't it
I think most of us here, like you, are old Eliters and the game really has come of age now. It's so much more like what we just had to imagine back in the day.

Hi, Jure, welcome. Yes, Oolite brought back that space feeling we had in Elite, and much more, with the oxp's. You will see, people are helpful and kind here in the forum. They are really friends. :)

Welcome on-board Jure.

I’m sure that you will find, as I did when I first joined the forum, that there is a wealth of knowledge and advice available and that people here are only too happy to offer assistance.

Ladies and gentlemen, thank you for the warm welcome :)

It is really nice to find such a friendly community for a change. I am discovering all sorts of things and as I wrote here, I'm having way too much fun! I am not sure if it's even legal at my age

It's definitely not legal at your age.
What were the skies like when you were young?

Currently: piloting the Boa Clipper Photic Sneeze II around Galaxy 2, bearing gifts of dubious legality but high entertainment value.

It probably shouldn't be legal at any age!
