As I have mentioned on my Wiki page, (see the link in my signature strip), The GalTech Industries Corporation are based in the Ceesxe system.
Therefore I am thinking at some stage to release an OXP which will introduce some shipyards into this system. My thoughts are to model some kind of headquarters/station along with some ship construction bays (some of them possibly with part completed ships still in them). The shipyards would also have some kind of defensive ability probably consisting of a system of space turrets, a couple of defence cruisers and a fighter station. I don't know exactly when I will get this done but I am quite excited about the idea (and the added bonus will be that I will no doubt learn a huge amount in the process).

Re: GalTech Shipyards in the Ceesxe system
You could check out Galactic Navy OXP for how it creates their bases.
Spawning a bunch of ships or stations in 1 area isn't too bad once you know how.
It's getting them to stay there (if ships) or react to hostiles and other events correctly (via their AI.plist files and/or .js scripts) that's the pain.

The AI used in the Galactic Navy OXP you'll want to look at is the picket.AI file. I've used this as a reference a few times to get ships to stay in one location. This way you can have ships hanging around the witchpoint or a station or even a fixed point in space (like a massive Thargoid invasion fleet poised on the edge on a system... ).

Thanks for the advice gents though I think this will be a long term project.
I have a number of things that I aim to work on first but then I will have learnt much which I can apply to this project.

A big kind of shipyard station would be good in the Ooniverse, I know a lot of corporations have their own Headquarters Stations but an actual shipyard that looks like a shipyard would be really cool eye candy for the game!
Something like the above, but without an NX Class Starship in the middle!

Check out SIRF for a station with an actual visible shipyard. It has a bad reputation as a FPS killer, and is in need of a texture update, but it's worth a look.

I think I saw a picture of [wiki]S.I.R.F.[/wiki] before but didn't have a clue where it was from...
Thanks for that Wildeblood, I will check it out!

This is reasonably close to what I have in mind. The important aspect I think is that you can clearly see whatever ships are under construction, refit or repair.Pleb wrote:A big kind of shipyard station would be good in the Ooniverse, I know a lot of corporations have their own Headquarters Stations but an actual shipyard that looks like a shipyard would be really cool eye candy for the game!

Re: GalTech Shipyards in the Ceesxe system
That's what I'd like to see as well, maybe a half constructed vessel with parts showing, like the the Star Trek example I posted. This would be really cool to have, maybe a number of smaller ships being constructed with a larger one also in construction.
