Seconded. It was cringeworthy.
Aye... four more years of that. Still, we have at least got San Marino in our next World Cup qualifying group!

Only saw the final 15 minutes of overtime. If they are any indication then yes, quite painful. Sorry guys!

Painful. Really painful. Even by English standards.

It was painful to listen to the commentators and pundits trying SOOO hard to find something positive to say. Even Captain Gerrard was truggling to find something positive to talk about.

I watched the game during a family get-together. Which was awful because the female side of things ie. my wife, her mum, her mum's friend and some other random person kept wanting to know what was happening during the penalty shootout, without actually coming in to watch it :x

That said, England were pants and Italy fully deserved to go through

I had to <shudder> explain the offside rule to a lady.

All the cliches were there. The glassy expression, the slow, uncomprehending nod. Everything.

Sorry if that's sexist. It IS true though...

Well it always seems to come down to penalties...and we always seem to loose...

Still on the other hand at least I don't have to eat my Thinsulate hat now haha! My head will still be nice and toasty this winter!

Yeah, who would have thought all those hard-nosed footballers would be that concerned for your wellbeing :)

Yeah I bribed the ref to throw the game to Itlay's favour, that's why he awarded them all those free kicks! Lol only joking, but when it went to penalties I couldn't bare to watch - I actually wanted England to win, even though it would have meant me being a step closer to eating my hat!

Haha yes that as well, we would never have won the tournament anyway. Especially if it had gone to penalties against Germany...

Anticipation was the only strong point of the England team :P

Even with England's park-the-bus tactics, I doubt very much if it would have got that far. I think losing to Italy in the quarter-finals on penalties was a pretty good result, all told, for a team in transition. Much easier to look back on than a (potential) stuffing!

Transition to what? That's what concerns me! Agreed about Germany though - they'd have thrashed England!

Is it against the rules for us to just send Man Utd or Man City or Arsenal or Spurs or Liverpool as the England team. By all means compensate the club for the inconvenience. At least that would stop the "Oh, I'm not used to playing with him" stuff.
