Understanding ship energy level and shields
Does overall ship energy level (maximum and current one) affect shield capacity or recharge rate?

Well the ship's energy unit has to work to recharge both the energy banks and the shields, so if the current energy is below maximum some energy that could have gone to recharging the shields has to go instead to charging the main banks.
So yeah, the more systems that are at a low energy level then the longer the time before energy/shield levels return to maximum.

I mean does ship with higher max energy level have more powerful shields than weaker one and do they recharge faster?aegidian wrote:Well the ship's energy unit has to work to recharge both the energy banks and the shields, so if the current energy is below maximum some energy that could have gone to recharging the shields has to go instead to charging the main banks.

So having big ship may save your life, but does not prevent non-fatal damage?aegidian wrote:No, not unless upgrades have been bought to boost the shields or recharge rates.ArkanoiD wrote:I mean does ship with higher max energy level have more powerful shields than weaker one and do they recharge faster?

Hmmm, I was thinking about this one.. If you have virtually no energy left (just been shot to peices) and then someone trips an E-Bomb, surely you would recieve minimum damage. Maybe this is something to add?
Also, do the lasers run off an independent power generator? I assume so to avoid being helpless mid fight... Thinking if it is meant to be off the main drive (with overheating being THE restricting factor) then surely firing like mad should reduce the speed your shields recover.

The act of talking b*ll*cks whilst waving one's arms about wildly is referred to as testiculation.

No, and firing like mad can have that effect, especially with a pulse laser.CWolf wrote:Also, do the lasers run off an independent power generator? I assume so to avoid being helpless mid fight...
