Blummin' Javascript!

Post by Greyth »

Hours trying to reclaim an array only to find I'm using a blummin square blummin bracket instead of the more curvaceous kind with my 'pop'. Blummin JavaScript! I'm popping mad!

Various text editors will show which brackets or parenthesis are associated with each other.
I use Notepad++ on Win XP.
No doubt there's even examples for Mac and Linux...

Thanks Switeck. I sometimes use Notepad++ on XP since reading about it here and it is good. The standard Linux editor GEdit also does the bracket pairing and that is indeed of some assistance. Of the two I think Notepad++ is the better tool as it allows me to expand and collapse the functions which is really handy but I do most of my tinkering in Linux because XP plays Oolite significantly better on this coal powered rig so I keep that for pleasure having disconnected it from the internet to save on virus killing and malware searching and scandisking and defragging. The chunky Linux fonts help me a lot as I don't see too well these days. Using the right bracket at the right time is now becoming a habit but only after much waving of the arms and calling myself an idiot. Same with the semi colons that have now, for some reason superceeded the comma in some circumstances. It's coming along slowly and I'm not one to give in easily. A 32'' monitor has also helped although I have to turn my head slightly to read a line of text. I've never had a Mac but I've heard they are the bees knees.

Have a look at Kate, the beige triangles left of the code in the image below do exactly that. Kate is the only part of KDE I use. Just take care of deleting the ~ backup files when you're done.

Cheers Gimbal Locke! That's gonna make things a bit easier in Linux :D

[edit] Really impressed with Kate, I might even get to like Javascript! Thanks again! [/edit]
