[Solved] Problem with Witchdrive Fuel Injectors

I have Oolite 1.76 installed and running fine on an older IBM computer running Ubuntu 11.10.
Aside from some old video hardware problems (that have since been resolved---sorta) I haven't had any performance problems worth mentioning except for the following issue:

When I apply the “Witchdrive Fuel Injectors for a protracted period of more than about 10 seconds; after disengaging the drive, I become a ballistic projectile hurling through space with little to no control for a period of time that seems to vary with each occurrence. This effect seems to be shortened somewhat if I alternate between increase/decrease thrust 4 or 5 times, though performing this action doesn't always have the same effect.

Any suggestions?
I have an HTML doc. that contains all of the information regarding the hardware on this machine but I don't know how to provide it in this post.

So, if this information is needed I will require some instructions.

No, as a matter of fact I am using a Saitek "Rumble" game controller but I have never had any problems with it.
I rarely use the keyboard during game play however, after you ask about pressing the "I" key, I tried it and the same problem occures.

Can you post the contents of your latest.log O'neal? There are a few OXP possibilities that might have something to do what your are experiencing, and the log will include what's being loaded. Also what ship are you flying? If not the stock cobra 3 does it have a much higher top speed that the stock cobra 3?

The latest.log is just a text file so you can open it with a standard text editor select all the contents and copy/paste to the forum in between quote tags.

One other question: which ship are you flying? Some OXP ships seem to have (IMO) some over the top speeds, and that will affect the injectors' speed...

I am currently flying a DragonSE however, just before moving to this ship I was flying the standard Python and I had this this ship as well.
I too believe that it is an OXP issue and I have to admit, I have gone over the edge with the OXP's. (Experimenting) :wink:

It may be my Military Fuel Injectors reacting badly with that ship's stats. Try disabling the OXP and see if that helps the problem.

That OXP boosts the ships velocity periodically, and it might be that it's not playing nice with that ship configuration.

Not connected with your problem, but this OXP is a little out of date. Also, Griff's shipset doesn't work at all well without shader support.
I would advise stilts for the quagmires, and camels for the snowy hills

Yep... no real point in keeping it. CaptSolo is currently working on a non-shader version of Griff's shipset (they look real good), so wait on that.

Thanks mate.

For the most part, the game is performing flawlessly on this older IBM.
With the exception of the Fuel Injector issue and occationally, the frame rate dropps to 4 FPS, but this too is probably due to an OXP that I loaded and souldn't have.

I'll give it a go. if that turns out to be the problem, I'm gonna' miss it. It's a great OXP if you find yourself in a battle with Thargoids or Pirates and your shields are all but depleted. I use it for a quick get away! (It's a survival thing :shock: )

Your version of FuelCollector.oxp is out of date and isn't working. It has nothing to do with your problem, but you should install the latest version anyway.

Well, Thargoid, turns out you were "bang on" with your suggestion. I opened the config. file for the Military Fuel Injector OXP and commented out everything in the file therefore disabling it and that solved the problem. Fuel Injectors work fine now and the ship comes to a complete stop when I fully decelerate.

I wondered why my fuel wasn't increasing like I thought it should be.
I'll remove the Fuel Collector OXP and download/install the newest one.
I assume I can get on the Box? (Box.net)
