Ionics Mission - Possible spoiler!!

Post by the alberts »

Hello!

Just started the Ionics mission. On arriving at Ramaza, I've been asked to pick up a package from Zaria. I get there - and there's nothing to pick up!

I thought perhaps the 'package' could be a person! - so I even took a passenger that happened to be heading for Ramaza thinking that could be it, but nope.

Anyway, I'm kind of flitting between the two planets hoping that something might trigger the package bit of the mission. In the meantime it just says on the ship manifest "pick up package from Zaria"

I'm guessing there may be a conflict with another OXP I have loaded... but not sure... anyone else had this? Thanks in advance. :)

Open up your savefile, do a search for 'ionics' and post the lines here. I'll try and sort it it out for you.

Here's some pasted from the save file. Along with a bunch of Thargoid Wars bits by the look of it. The only other 'ionics' that came up were the
<string>Ionics Redback:</string>
<string> Leave us alone!</string>
<string>Ramaza 2084299:09:41:10</string>
Type stuff, which I'm assuming is a record of previous ships I've, erm, 'helped'

P.S. I've temporarily moved the Thargoid wars OXP out of the Addons folder, as I figured that may be the problem as I was called to "crush bugs" almost every time I docked!

Were you asked another question before (from Thargoid Wars maybe) before you got to Zaria?

Either way, if you delete the following lines and start again it should work properly:

<key>ionics_v_rlf</key>
<string>Pick-up package from Zaria.</string>
<key>mission_ionics_ramaza_status</key>
<string>RLF_1</string>

Probably... (sorry to be vague!)

Anyway, will delete those lines and have a go. Many thanks for your help! I'll post back how I get on...

Cheers! :D

Okay, that's the second report of this. You and I think it was ArkanoiD. Anyone else seeing this?

Have you updated your copy of thargoidwars.oxp recently? If not, try that. Also, what type of computer are you using and what version of Oolite?
It is generally inadvisable to eject over the target you just bombed.

Okay I've deleted the lines as suggested, but now nothing is triggered when I arrive at Ramaza/Zaria. Hope I haven't killed off the OXP! (kinda obvious I'm a designer rather than programmer eh?)

Thargoid Wars is still out of the addons folder. So I'm pretty sure that's not the cause (unless of course it affected my save file from previous encounters perhaps?)

I've updated both the thargoidwars and ionics OXPs so I'm assuming I'm running the latest versions of each. My computer is a G5 PowerPC and I'm running OSX 10.4.5

Stupid question time: there's ionics 1.1 and 1.2 - I'm assuming that 1.2 replaces 1.1 rather than just sits alongside it in the addons folder! If that's the case, it might be worth mentioning in a readme that that is the case for people like myself who need stuff spelt out to them in simple terms...

Oh yes - and I'm running version 1.64 of Oolite.

Yep, that's right. Looks like I might have stuffed something up recently with the script. I'll have a look at it tomorrow and get back to you. Sorry 'bout that.

I did, nothing changed. I installed 1.3 version recently.

Ah, that would be because I'm an idiot  What I should have said was: delete the following lines from your savefile and all trace of the mission will be removed from your game. Then when you dock at Zaria again the mission will start from the beginning. I'm pretty certain that it didn't work the first time because you were asked another question before you got to Zaria which reset the Ionics question. I'll fix that for the next release (it would be a fairly rare circumstance though).

Code: Select all

 <key>ionics_v_rlf</key>
 <string>Pick-up package from Zaria.</string>
 <key>mission_ionics</key>
 <string>STAGE1</string>
 <key>mission_ionics_ramaza_status</key>
 <string>RLF_1</string>

yes, but I thought it was just a tweak towards a more intense wars-thingy, I'd say it happened 1 in 3 dockings (currently in Galaxy 1, so no more buggers, only then I realised how used I'd gotten to hitting F2 microseconds after docking  )

Hmmmmm... As far as I can tell the script shouldn't do that. Might be a function of how long you stay in the station. Working on it...
