The meaning of Redux (Redux)
Moved from the carrier dock thread
What exactly is meant when something is termed "Redux". Zieman, you renamed a couple of things in this ship with "Redux" in the title. What did you mean by that? Just curious.

I see. So it's a swipe at my sloppy ship building, then. Thanks. Good to know where I stand.

Re: Carrier Docks
'Redux' is also used to mean 'I liked that so much, I want to adapt it to be perfect for my taste'. It means something is so good, it can be used as a basis for something even better. Be flattered and happy that someone chooses to adapt your work.

Re: Carrier Docks
If you have a look in the default textures folder you will also find many of these have 'redux' in their names.

Re: Carrier Docks
In this context, it's absolutely not demeaning... it's just a synonym to "revamp".
You know those who, having been mugged and stabbed, fired, dog run over, house burned down, wife eloped with best friend, daughters becoming prostitutes and their countries invaded - still say that "all is well"?
I'm obviously not one of them.

LOL!!!
Man, was I in a crappy mood, or what. Just had knee replacement surgery, and on top of that I get to have a cold as well. Sheesh, what a bad reaction to a simple explanation. Thanks for setting me straight. Now I'll just limp on back to bed.......

You know, I remember asking the question, but almost don't remember that reply I made. I think I was on a combo of pain killers, and muscle relaxants when I made the reply. Kind of like answering a question when one is drunk. Still no excuse, and I apologise for my rudeness.

Re: Carrier Docks
I know precisely what you mean, I was like that for two days after the surgery. Even now, I find it somewhat hard to concentrate - it's rather irksome when I'm trying to code and forget what I was doing in the middle of a thought.
I can barely wait to get off the medication...

I'm with you. The sooner I can get off of these meds, the better, and doing away with the crutches would help some, too.Cmdr. Re: Carrier Docks
This whole sequence since you asked about "redux" deserves to be snipped to its own thread in Outworld...
