I still reckon that the original Blue Marble image, taken by the Apollo 17 crew, has the most 'wow' factor!
I would advise stilts for the quagmires, and camels for the snowy hills
And any survivors, their debts I will certainly pay. There's always a way!

sadly it is not a usable texture.

Don't know, does NASA provide some "unfolded" Earth (and other planets) textures ?

No-one “took” the picture, it’s a composite. There aren’t any cameras that good that far out. :-)
