maybe talk of this other game should go on its own thread, instead of hijacking this one....

Yes, but thread derailing is so much more fun. 8)

Thread derailment is mandatory - if you're thread is not derailed then nobody is taking it seriously...

Mandatory or obligatory? I always get confused between those two.

well it gets on my fkn t*ts. it's not the first time i've started a topic about something and people start blathering on about something else. you wanna talk about another game, go start your own thread, then people will know where to find it.

Indeed - maybe we made a boob there.

Anyway, perhaps a thread on mammary glands is more likely to remain on topic than a thread about an unreleased game Y on a forum specifically for a game X.

Not to be down on the topic but isn't threadjacking the gift that keeps on giving?
To one person it's an opportunity to digress and for someone else an opportunity to feel superior with a line like:

"I'm sure that's very interesting, but getting back to the topic at hand."

Whilst I realise in relation to technical and coding issues smart assery can get in the way of a fix sometimes. That said we do have to remember this is a game and as such a mix between mathematics and art that is Guaranteed to have us butting heads from time to time.

On this thread (and only this thread) - I get this little symbol Image in the 2nd and normally empty column of the forum - anybody else see it - anybody else know what it is, or why it's there?

I don't see it... and I don't know what it is!

Second column! What second column?
I have Topic consisting of icon and title, and then Author, Replies etc.

This question eventually comes up on every phpBB forum because they are poorly documented icons which do not appear for everyone.

The icon --> Image <-- highlights a thread that is "red hot".

It appears in the "View new posts" and "View unread posts" modes, but not when you view the board index or just one forum.

Edit: (ooh, this post just made me Elite on the forum! Kewl!)

OK, but I always view in "Unread posts" mode and I have never (in 5 years on this forum) seen that icon before...

But the info is much appreciated nevertheless.
