Pirate with wrong AI

Post by Commander McLane »

During a fight I came across group of pirates, two of which looked like this:

I have no idea what happened here. The ship was spawned with primaryRole "pirate" and is even part of a wolfpack. It's a vanilla Oolite ship, nothing fancy, no special script or anything. Yet it has route1traderAI and is heading for the station. A second one was just the same. The other three pack members were ordinary pirates with correct AI.

The only thing a little out of the ordinary was that the pack was lurking right on the edge of the station aegis. Still, I have no explanation why two of the ships would end up with a wrong AI.

<vague memory>
Don't pirates switch to route1TraderAI if their holds are full or something like that?

Yes, if they can’t witchjump. The Mamba has no hyperspace engine.
