What system are you using. (Win, Linux or Mac). Not sure if this is the cause of you problems, but Trident Down has been zipped up on a Mac. Macs leave some Mac specific folders and files in the archive. These have given me some trouble in the past, and I still have to change attributes on the files after it has been extracted. They turn up green in windows explorer, indicating that the files are encrypted on my Win7 setup, after having been extracted. I find that using a third part tool (I use 7Zip) causes less problems when extracting these files. Apart from that, Trident Down extracts and installs fine on my computer.

Win7. I use WinRAR for zipped files normally. I ended up opening the file in Windows explorer a few minutes ago to get it out since WinRAR couldn't find the file path for extraction. I still think that there's a security setting involved however. This is quite literally the only OXP I've run into this issue with, including others by Ramirez, and I have approximately 100 installed and up to a dozen that are being held aside since I'm not in the applicable galaxy, or I can't afford that ship yet anyway, or .... Surely at least one of them was also zipped on a Mac?

Thanks for the input. Since I've dug it out, I'll probably set this issue aside- until the next update when I've forgotten how to pry it out again and thereby renew my frustration.

lisbet, I've re-zipped the OXP package so that it should be free of any Mac-related strangeness. I've refreshed the download link on my website so give that a try.

Tried, same "The system cannot find the path specified" error. It appears with WinRAR, but not with Windows Explorer (finally remembered how to get it out) and it does not occur with any of your other OXPs that I've downloaded. That list includes:

Dictators
Iron Raven
Resistance Commander
BlOomberg Markets
The Feudal Sates
Executive Spaceways
Saleza Aeronautics

I have pried it out, and it seems like a limited problem. Thanks for trying to address it.

I've zipped up the OXP again, creating the package from scratch. I've tried downloading it on my windows XP install, and it seems to work OK, at least I don't seem to get any password requests or other errors when I do 'extract all'.

It works perfectly now. Thank you!

Hi all,

I need help as I have 2 problems concerning missions.

I have recently upgraded Oolite from 1.75.3 to 1.76. (latest version).

Following a jump to galactic chart 4 I have been hitting the missions hard and have 3 running at the same time.

However, 2 of these have problems:

Firstly, the mission whereby you have to take out Colonel Bodarenko at Isanla has been successfully completed my end. However, this mission is still showing that I need to take him out. Looking over previous posts of other combateers on these boards for a resolution, some did have the same problem but stated that eventually a news report came up and they then got follow up instructions and were able to complete this mission (I think it's the Trident Down mission). I have been across the galaxy 2-3 times waiting for a news flash or change in mission status but this hasn't occurred. It appears to have frozen or be in some kind of limbo.

I even reattempted this mission, docked at the space station at Isanla (manually) came out again and low and behold, Colonel Bodarenko was there again as though nothing had happened. When I destroy his ship I also destroy his escape pods. This mission appears to be frozen or in limbo.

Secondly, There is a mission involving Captain Curruthers and visiting his brother, (i think) at Teance. This, I believe, is the Love cats mission. I journey to Tiance but there is no sign of Felix Valrisian who is, apparently, at the milk palace!

There is a third mission currently running involving visiting Zskthak at esarqure station in the big bob bang burger bar! However, there was a message while on my to the planet at another space station asking me whether I'm a law abiding citizen or to hell with Gal cops! Of course my answer was 'a law abiding one' so I think this mission is in limbo as a result of my answer as the mission was about helping a fugitive!

The Nova mission hasn't appeared yet if that helps!

Any ideas?

Great game by the way that just gets better and better. My misspent youth (playing Elite on my beloved Amiga) has reappeared!

Regards,

Humpers.

You need to take out Bodarenko by using the bomb you planted - using other methods won't trigger the next steps. If you've already done this, can you check your savegame (open it up in a text editor) for a trident_down variable - it should say "BODARENKODEAD" if things have worked as planned.

Thanks for the reply.

I must have missed something! How do I activate the bomb. I remember about the bomb message but I couldn't deduce how to activate the bomb.

Ive tried shift N but that didnt show anything if I recall. Is there a special key to press?

Hi again,

Just reading through some past posts.....the bomb was supposed to be collected outside the space station. I didn't do this! However, when i got to Isanla, it said the bomb was installed, even though I didn't have it!

Does this mean I have to collect the bomb?

Hi,

There is definitely a problem or I am being stupid.

I get the briefing from Delaney about taking out Colonel Bodarenko at isanla whilst docked at the transit station. He then says go to the shipyard to fit the bomb. There's nothing at the transit station shipyard wise so.........

I leave the station and head for the main coriolis station in that system, dock and there's nothing there in the equipment or shipyard section (f3).

I leave the station and there is nothing, no message from Delaney, no cargo floating to scoop up (which earlier posts from others have intimated).

Where is this bomb?

Or is there a problem?

I've even looked around the Transit station.

Help!

Regards,

Humpers.

You probably need to go back to before this mission started, probably by editting the mission variables in your saved game.

However Ramirez will be probably have to tell you what you need to edit, and what to, as I don't have a clue.

I've had a look and found the problem. For some reason a wrong condition was left that meant the bomb wasn't being offered properly at the transit station. I've made an update to fix this (it's now at version 2.2). If you load this up and go back to the transit station in Raceedat you should find the bomb listed under **ATU RESTRICTED** - if need be set your trident_down mission variable in the savegame to "BODARENKOC" to reset things. With this variable in place, the bomb should now appear on the F3 screen.

Note that in previous versions of the OXP I had to make players pick up the equipment from outside the station, but now this is all handled through the main equipment screen.

Having opened it up I've made some further improvements to this part of the mission, applying some little things that have long been on my to-do list. I've also fixed some of the alignment and orientation of nav buoys used with the custom stations, which should make docking easier.

Thanks Ramirez for reply.

Things are moving on nicely! I have the bomb!!!!

However, I'm having a problem activating it. It's not listed as a primeable equipment.

So......I toggle using 'y' key to highlight it from my pylon mounted display but i'm now stuck. I've pressed 't' to arm it and I've even fired it but to no avail.

How do I activate this piece of equipment? Or is it not supposed to work in the first place? Or am I looking in to this too deep?

Looking forward to your help once again and sorry to be a pain!

Regards,

Humpers.
