My Oolite Experience

Post by iceman »

Been playing for 3 days now. Really great to find this old game up and running and seriously alive. Thought it may be fun to have a bit of a blog of my playing.

So three days in
102 kills
1 thargoid killed
Still in the mkiii ship
saving for something with a bigger cargo hold to earn lots of sondooliks.
loving it!

If you want a ship with more cargo space, I reccomend downloading the SuperCobra OXP and buying one. It has 30t cargo space, (cobra mk 3 has 20) and is also faster than the Cobra mk 3.

Cross-platform. OXPs should work for PC, Linux and Mac.

@ iceman - if you haven't yet figured it, they're really very civilized - you just need to find the 'add-ons' folder in the main Oolite folder, pop them into it, and 'hey presto'... that's it...!
All in all, a great little system from Giles. :D

There are one or two oxps that do still give rise to conflicts, so if you dump the whole load in (as I did!), and something goes pear-shaped, you'll need to take them out one by one until it returns to 'normal'!
Very funny, Scotty, now beam down my clothes...

OK then. a whole load of files in the folder and things seem to be working fine. a whole lot more ships to choose from and the pirates out there seem to be a lot more dangerous all of a sudden! Need to save some cash now for a new ship.
