Do I detect a certain 2000AD-ness about you?

I had your namesake as a game on my C64 many years ago - a side-on platform, hack-and-slash, I recall when you died, your heart was squished into oblivion by a might fist...

One of the first computer games where killed enemies left their corpses lying around, if I remember right ... did you not have to pile them up to reach the exits?

I thought it looked better than this!!! (Ah, memory, such a selectively tinted window through which we view the past)

Taking this game to a 1.76 stable release will be a huge achievement. I may not come to the forums too often any more but I still love this game, and can vividly remember downloading and playing Oolite for the first time. Here was a great space game that ran on my low-powered linux machine! It has now become one my benchmark games that other space games are measured against...

... and since I was only introduced to Oolite some time in the 1.70+ releases - you, Ahruman, are the lead coder responsible for what I found. Building on what Giles left has been clearly been productive, and hopefully another lead programmer may step forward to assist development, even if temporarily.

Looking forward to 1.76. Well done!

So now 1.76 is released. Congratulations to those who made it possible! And to those who will enjoy it :).

And a full 31 beam salute for the Supreme Grand Admiral, who is probably now loading up his Fer de Lance to retire to an unknown planet with a pleasant climate and attentive natives.

Best wishes,
Oscar

Oh, and Merry Xmas!

I keep reading this as "a change of pants" and thinking it's a New Year's day thread started by the Oolite programmers
