Do thargoids killed outside of station defense actions count?

Why not? AFAIK, all ships count, wether they are destroyed in defeding yourself and others, or in an act of piracy.

I mean does it count for Navy, not total kill count that makes your rating..

Yes and no. The Navy awards are part of the Thargoid Wars oxp. You get credit towards the awards for killing Thargoids that are placed in the game by the oxp. Those include three possible situations in addition to the station attacks. You do not get credit for the Thargoids placed randomly in a system by Oolite itself (independently of the oxp) or for Thargoids in witchspace. As far as I know it's not possible to write a script that would do that.
It is generally inadvisable to eject over the target you just bombed.

They should occur roughly 5% of the time. I'll look into this as well, although I haven't seen any issues like this on my machine.

Are you using the latest version of the oxp? What version of Oolite on what kind of machine?

Ahhh, the version you're using is likely the issue with the lack of a delay. A delay before the station attacks wasn't added until more recently. I'm still not sure why you're getting station attacks so often though...

That's a chance to get better rating, though ;-)

I get Thargoid attacks almost always too. You say they should attack about 5% of the time - I'd say it's more like 5% chance they won't. As a poster before said, best to save as the first thing you do upon docking.

Using the latest Oolite on Mac.

This issue was fixed in the latest version of thargoidwars.oxp. Download it from Oosat2 and replace the version you currently have.
