Pack an E-bomb, and maybe a Q-bomb or two. Mass extermination is the best way to deal with an overwhelming swarm of Thargoids. Trying to pick them off one at a time is suicidal.
Actually the Kirin does very well, thank you... If I cycle, the automatic target acquisition autolocks on the first attacker until it destroys it, or I cycle again; all I have to do is try not to lock on to the warships while fighting them, leaving the thargons to the turrets - the Kirin can handle them pretty well if allowed to take over the turrets.
I often end up hitting subentities and wasting the shot (BTW, I reduced the reload time to 15 seconds), so the laser is still put to good use.
BTW Maegil, manually docking that big beast sure is fun, eh?

Pro-tip: There's a setting in the fuel station oxp script that replaces the stations with smaller fuel satellites. Those won't kill you. Just park alongside the sat and let it pump the sunjuice.
All other stations: be really careful, or let the docking computer handle it.

This happened to a friend of mine whilst playing Elite on his C64. This fellow's emotions often got the best of him. He got killed and instead of pressing space he landed a terrifying blow with his fist on the table. Every action has an opposite and equal reaction and it proved true on this occasion. Time seemed to slow as we watched his precious computer fly up and away, rotating in the air, and landing hard on the concrete floor. Suffice it to say he never played Elite or any other game on that machine again.
