Been meaning to do this for a while - but I remembered during the F1 qualifying.
If any of the "Liner" oxp'ers are interested - I've also got a HD version (2200x600)

Re: YOUR AD HERE!!! 300 ads (sets A, B, C, D, E, F & G)
I was just walking up the road musing on possible further development of YAH! Could it be possible to add functionality to YAH! to give a standard way of thirdparty OXP's of communicating with YAH!? Perhaps along the lines that Snoopers and Bloomberg Markets communicate.
I was thinking that for example, authors of ship OXPs might like to provide a YAH! advert for their new ships, so that ads for their ships could appear more often than the standard ads, especially if the player is not currently flying that ship type.
Corporate flavour OXPs could have adverts for the corporations.
This could be automatic and would be a way of updating YAH! with new ads without having to make advert packs.
Is this possible?

Re: YOUR AD HERE!!! 300 ads (sets A, B, C, D, E, F & G)
Svengali and I have mused around the edges of pulling ads from YAH into Snoopers and possibly using Snoopers to inject mini-ads into YAH "Welcome to Diso station, try Mama Wagar's on level 17, for that extra special dinner. Quote YAH-42 for a 5Cr discount", etc...
I think you've got some good ideas there JazHaz, a stripped down YAH expansion that didn't add a new constore and defender could be pulled in by a particular OXP with some fiddled parameters (YAH currently runs in any system with a population larger than 4Bil and Multi-Gov and above) so you could create a version that only ran in Corporate States and had only "Business Ads".
With Griff's help I've looked at doing a Shady Ad pack - no Constores, just extra ads for those who already have glorious shaded Constores, they get glorious shaded TetraScreens too. It's still a WIP on my HD.

I also have an interest in this idea, specifically for future use of YAH advertisements on the inside walls of space stations. This is for the far distant future. Would like to be able to do this without having constores installed as well. Great idea guys.
Take an idea from one person and twist or modify it in a different way as a return suggestion so another person can see a part of it that can apply to the oxp they are working on.

Its down to the shipdata.plist in set_G - line 468 for the "yah_set_G_constore" sets a beacon entry.

I missed that one. Set G also has another quirk that throws an error in the log about a missing script file. That file wasn't used anyway so the player has no problem. Only I am not sure if it was the constore script or the asteroid-bilboard script. (both don't use a custom script anymore)Capt. The asteroid billboard has always given me a shader error and produces a blank billboard so I disabled it in my copy(script edit and changed roles in every copy). Also one of the constores occasionally throws an error about a bottom plate - I think its when I've been testing full shaders, and it's a shader error, and not sure which constore copy. I've not reported the constore error as I thought it was probably my graphics card/driver at fault.

The shader errors are probably down to you using an ATI graphics card? This was talked about in another thread recently.Capt. I think I fixed that one Eric when you sent me the fix and I re-uploaded to my Box account.Eric Walch wrote:I missed that one. If somebody tells me what to do with line 468 I'll fix that too...

Was checking my latest log, when I spotted this:
Code: Select all
15:34:54.218 [script.javaScript.exception.notFunction]: ***** JavaScript exception (yah_station_facing ): TypeError: this.ship.setOrientation is not a function
15:34:54.218 [script.javaScript.exception.notFunction]: ../AddOns/YOUR_AD_HERE.oxp/Scripts/yah_constore_facing.js, line 12.

Can't believe it YAH down on page 4! Shocking!
Anyway - as I'm currently very cross with RL(tm) Veolia it's only fair that I parody them inside Oolite!

Now I'm waiting for an ad with the tag line
"Music is waste to our ears" or "Music is wasted on our ears".
Don't know yet who it would be for.
